Help - LO HATES driving!!!

My second born did the same. Eventually he just got used to it. It took a few months though.

I know it is heart wrenching and nerve wrecking to hear your LO scream but you just have to ignore it and eventually they just stop crying. You know your LO is strapped in safe and sound and no harm can come to him. So try ignore it.

My LO now is fine. I even sometimes put him in the car for a drive just so he can fall asleep and then go back home and transport him to his cot.

My son never had this problem but when he turned 8 months he started HATING driving! He gets so restless and doesn't want to be strapped in his car seat but stand on seats moving around which is something I will never let him get away with! He is now almost 11 months and I have exhausted the list of all that I need to do to keep him calm! Driving from Northern Cape to KZN has become a NIGHTMARE!

so glad i came across the post!!! my son is opposite, in the beginning was fine in the car and always fell asleep from abut 10 weeks (he is 12 weeks now), he started hating it!!!! he really does not like his car seat either and even when in the car and we are driving he screams!!! so the car doesnt even sooth him anymore.... i was also wondering about the car seats as the carry ones for the little ones dont seem comfortable and is in a very curled seated position ... so i was thinking maybe he doesnt like it anymore...

anyhoo seems like there is a few of them and i hav eno advice either!!! havent found anything that works!

Yep - you're definitely not alone. Erin was the same, hated driving with an absolute passion. Mobiles etc only helped for a few minutes. She took a dummy and would politely spit it out so she could scream and voice her unhappiness.

i also have no advice, she outgrew this only at about 9 months - which was also the time we then decided that we could drive her to sleep if she just wouldn't go down otherwise. Erin's 2 now, loooooves going for rides and runs to the car, but very independently insists on getting into her car seat by herself.

Hang in there. I know how embarrassing it can be telling friends or family who just haven't experienced it, that you are scared to take a long drive alone with your LO. They do tend to look at you, with the "you have got to be kidding me" look on their faces.

Oh yes forgot to add..i also got THE most annoying kiddies song cd that settles him if he fusses...but be warned..after listening to it a couple of times you will seriously want to chuck it out the car!

I know she is only 7 weeks but have you tried maybe crushing a Rescue tablet and adding it to her feed before you leave?

Thanks so much, ladies! Makes me feel so much better to know Lilly is not the only one that doesn't like driving! I tried the toy but maybe she's still too young for that! Will try and go with the ignoring advice then and hope it gets better x
