file MIssesMom - why lock a thread?

Things people say can be hurtful :(

I had 2 c sections advised by my gynae. He gave me the opportunity to try for natural birth but unfortunately after being in labour, the 1 st time for 16 hours and the 2nd time for 12 hours I ended up having c sections, and being exhausted - after labour and surgery. My children were very different as babies, the one having reflux and being fussy and the other being happy and content.

Pro natural birth mothers, not on this forum, have made it out to me that I never birthed my children, but had surgery to get them out. It is hurtful to be told things like that. I never partook in the thread because it was too close to home and I probably wold have give an emotional outburst of sorts.

I am not against having opinionated discussions, but understand from the thread how people may have felt hurt by what was being said. So in all probabilities it was a good thing to lock the thread before people got too personal.

I am glad the thread was locked. Those threads only cause heart ache. Its threads like that, where people are so nasty, and don't respect each other, that puts me off forums like this. This is supposed to be a happy, helpful space.

I had to have a c section - does that make me a bad mother?

I have a beautiful girl of 8 months. She is healthy, happy, slept wonderful from day 1, didnt have colic or other hassels.

We are so easy to judge each other, not knowing what goes on in someone else's life. So, well done Missesmom for stoping an ugly situation before it hurt more people.

I went back and read my post again, and it is very opinionated and I said exactly what I thought, but I could have said it alot different to have it not sound so judgemental. This is very unlike my and made me out to be an uber bitch, so i do apologize to everyone that I upset. I am usually a softy and never dare to join in these kind of discussions, so I dont know what came over me.
I spoke my mind, but with a group of hormonal women all together some things are better left unsaid. Lesson learnt.

Chanz well said!!!!!

I honestly think if a mother makes a choice whether to do caesar or natural based on how she will be judged by society after her choice....well....she's not being given good information!!!!!!!!
Her choice should come from her fears, her expectations, her personal like's and dislikes. Certainly not because she thinks "oh best I go for a natural so people dont frown upon me, even though I was raped and have been advised against this as its a trigger for past emotions....let me rather go through that rape trauma again in order not to be judged by the the pro naturals out there"

The c-section vs natural threads have come up countless times. Kirst it looks like you are a new user so perhaps this is the first one you've been exposed to. As julz says, dont worry, they will come up time and time again!!! you will have the opportunity again to see everyone's claws coming out!

We will never agree to disagree. Some people are just far too hard headed in their opinions. I am a midwife and I certainly have no grudge against moms who choose to have c-sections. Why is it any of my business WHY she chose it?? I am here for the mom's who choose to go natural and to give them the information they want from me. I'm not here to search for mom's wanting a caesar and to change their minds!

Sjoe ai jai jai

as the saying goes "it is the season to be jolly la la la la"

Just like mommies will have different opinions about schooling, discipline, prenatal vitamins, gynae or midwife so will mommies differ when it comes to birthing choices.

Unfortunately in my time on Moomie, never has a thread like "birthing choices" ever gotten better after the nails come out. I think there are just very strongly opinionated ladies on here.

I honestly think if any mommies and mommies to be want to be informed about birthing options then they should check under birth stories. There each mommy has written her own birth story. Each situation really is unique. I found alot of comfort in reading there.

Afterall as long as a baby comes into this world healthy that should be all that matters. I think we sometimes forget how fortunate we even are to be able to give birth whether its csec or natural. Its still a birth at the end of the day.

So I guess she should lock this one then, Tazzy?
