Ashlee has a bit of a cold, so she hasn't wanted anything to eat this week. I think I will try again this weekend.

I must say the rice cereal doesn't look or taste very appetizing. Maybe I should try some fruit with it.

My lb has a little cough and I think his teeth are annoying him so he has not been "eating" as well. Try some stewed apple or pear in the porridge - it also goes down well. :)

Hi

My friend told me that her Paed told her that you should not add cereal to the bottle as the baby ingests too much cereal to start and this is bad for their livers as their little systems are not used to cereal or solid food yet. Giving by a spoon means that the baby will only take what he needs. As you know when they start most of the food gets on their face and clothes and they only injest a tiny amount to start. Whether this is true, I have no idea.

That's what I heard but I have friends that add cereal to the bottle.

Jems. My son is also 5 months and he cries when I don't feed him fast enough. He actually becomes frantic. His face goes all red and he lets out the loudest cry you can imagine. He also keeps opening his mouth and trying to take the spoon when it is empty. My little guy is so greedy and is already eating 3 heaped table spoons of cereal. I like the mash bananna idea. I am going to try that.

Don't worry Mia_HannahaMommy, B only got her first tooth at 9m2weeks and we have been doing blw since 5m3w.

Zodwa, that is exactly the point, until well over a year (some earlier) babies don't realize that eating food makes them full. When they cry they need milk, period.

So food is only introduced as a taste of something other than milk.

I'm all for others trying BLW straight from the word go, but personally (call me paranoid) I'll wait a bit longer before letting Hannah go it alone :) Well, maybe until she has at least two teeth anyway (she's got no teeth!). Besides, I enjoy feeding her and think that at least every child differs developmentally and personally I don't think she'll get anything into her mouth at the moment, maybe next month.

I just mash her food up with a fork and she loves it. Mia hated anything grainy or with pieces for a long time, but last night I mashed some cooked apple for Hannah and she loved it, I couldn't get it in her mouth quick enough for her liking :) And it was quite chunky!

At night I normally breastfeed Hannah and then about 30 - 45 mins later give her her supper. That works quite well, then you know they've had their milk, but they're hungry enough to eat some proper food aswell.

Just wondering
They say give baby milk before u give them solid food... Should u feed him the milk till he is full? if he's full he wont want to eat solid food right? Coz he's full...
Or should u wait an hour after the milk feed b4 u give the solid?
