Tracyo,
Glad to hear you are enjoying the walks with your hubby in the mornings.
I also went to register for the Goody bag at Dischem. Baught two boxes of Preg Omega plus, and my R300 was spent. It is easy to fill the R300 as there are so many things one can buy from them.

Speaking of baby showers my SIL sent out the invite this morning... Is it not adorable??? She said she decided on early December before people go on leave, in Jan it will be too late when everyone returns as my LG came 2weeks early and hoping for the same here... She can come at 38 weeks too, and that pushes us to 14 Jan already...

We also cant do much for baba until we are in the new house, really hope that we move the last weekend in Nov.... Eeeeekkk - just realised thats like a month away   :headbang:

Thanks for the info on the mums and tots, also a sucker for those things hey! Do you just register at any Dischem?

Hi Ladies,

Cherikey - When I had my LG at Mediclinic Panorama I had a private room and they were not fussed about taking baby away during visiting time - in fact whoever came to visit could hold baby - she stayed with me most of the time and they took her to the nursery when I asked them to (shower, etc) - hubby was also allowed to stay there for as long as he liked in the day/evening....

I have to say all your bumps are looking so cute :) I am going to try and get a pic taken this weekend & will post it.

Anthea - thanks for the link - they have such cute things.... we dont really have anything sorted for baby yet with the house being on the market but I have to get my act together and just do something - I will be quite happy if we are still in our house over xmas

Tazzy9 - thanks for the info on the monitors, etc - I will definitely be heading back to see if we can get the thermometer - I went and registered for the moms&tots card - if you spend R300 then you get a baby bag with some goodies in it - I am a sucker for those kinds of things   - my hubby just went along no arguments and I bought lots of shampoo & bepanthan - got to my R300 very quickly - Dischem were having specials on these so now we are all stocked up.

I work with a group of guys (they are all based in JHB) and I have one more trip to JHB in Nov to go and do a team-build - we are doing archery  - they have moved their date forward so that I can join them..... luckily it is not absailing like one of them suggested.... :silly: :silly:

AFM - hubby got a scare with his blood pressure & weight when he went for his vitality checks - so for the past 3 weeks we have been going for walks in the morning - I really enjoy that (Dr said I must exercise otherwise she will put me on bed rest towards end of pregnancy when I complained how exhausted I was) - other than that lots of heart burn and my right side is really sore at the end each day.

How many packs of the smallest size nappies are you buying to start off with?

What's happening with your baby showers??

Hope you guys have a fantastic rest of the week!!!

Cherikey,
I really hope you get to have the experience you hope to have this time around!
I have to be honest, I am scared out of my whits... When we went to hospital with our little scare a few weeks ago, it was the first time I was in ANY hospital. I have never been in a hospital. Never have anastesia or operation. not even something as small as tonsels or apendix. Sure I have gone to visit friends in the maternaty ward, but that is about it. So being in hospital was quite daunting to me... I really don't know how I will react if they tell me that I have to have a C-section or something. I've never even had an IV.
Anyway, I really hope you get to go into labour naturally and have a good experiance!

Thanks for the laugh Cherikey re the size of your bump. It made my day

Home sick with flu today, and cant get hold of gynae as its theatre day :( GP is also fully booked for today!

My hospital Netcare Femina: baby rooms in all the time with mum. Straight after birth she goes onto the tummy to encourage that "crawl" to the breast and starts breastfeeding immediately. Then to your own private room, they dont have wards at all at the hospital. Once in the room, baby only leaves to go bath the next day - the vernix is apparently good for their skin after birth. Dad's and your own kids are allowed in the room all day, and visitors during visiting hours. With my LG at one stage we 7 visitors in my room!

Hope this helps. I have heard the Netcare hospitals are very different from the Mediclinics...

Thanks Snoekie, i had my LG at Wilgers as well (lovely hospital) and as mentioned she went to NICU straight away so no one got to hold her... She was in their NICU for 12 days and so if i go into labour naturally this will all still be a new experience for me.

Cherikey,
My Hospital's Pilicy: Wilger's Pretoria
1. Directly after labour grandparents are aloud to visit for 1-2 hours permitting that everyone is in good health.
2. Then Baby can room in with mum. Dad can visit at any time until 9pm.
3. During visiting hours baba has to go to nursery, also to prevent infection. Grandparents may then also only view baba though glass.

I do know that the medi clinic in Paarl have special seperate visiting hours for grandparents, about an hour before regular visiting hours when they are also allowed to hold baba, but very few hospitals allow this.

Hope this helps.
