@Bondelq - that doesnt sound right hey! My gynae checks urine at every visit as well as blood pressure, weight, looks into eyes (not sure what they'll pick there) and feels legs and tummy before he even starts the scan... Where do you live? Really hope its a case of third time lucky for you!!! Please keep us updated!

@Cherikey - i am also secretly hoping for a girl but DH really wants a boy... so lets see what happens at the next scan! When is your next scan?

Hi Ladies

So I decided to find a new doctor. At my scan last week it was the second time my doctor didn’t even test my urine  . Don’t know if this is normal for some doctors but I think they should at least test for infection etc.

While doing the scan I asked him how fast the heart is beating and he just gave me an estimate. I also asked him about the neck fluid etc where they check for abnormalities and he said it is still too early to measure the neck fluid or to see if the spinal development is normal (this was at 13 weeks). He also didn’t talk to me about any blood tests for abnormalities. Asked him for the weight and length and he just gave me an average of what babies weigh and measure at 13 weeks :headbang: .

Baby was lying with his/her legs wide open but the doctor didn’t even care to “zoom in” a bit  . I just hope we will be as lucky when we go for the 18 weeks scan 7th of August.

I phoned another doctor and asked if they have space for new patients and told them that I am 14 weeks pregnant. The first thing the receptionist asked me is if I’ve gone for my blood tests yet. Uhm no I haven’t even been asked for a urine sample  .

This will be my third doctor since the start of my pregnancy so please keep your fingers crossed this one actually gives a s&%t.

Cherikey – Lol I also get crazy dreams like that but I’m not dreaming of baby yet. Maybe my crazy dreams are also due to my daily dose of Days of our lives!

Anthea – Ooh maybe pink again? :woohoo: So nice of your doctor to give you an “educated guestimate” You are lucky to be able to see this early.

PurplePoppie – How late is your scan?

Nadia – Cute bump!

A question for all the ladies who have little girls: What did you crave in pregnancy and did you get MS, heartburn etc?

I forgot to mention I had the strsngest dream about baby last night. Dreamt I brought him home but he was plastic like a toy doll. Dr's kept telling it's normal & he'll soon turn into a real baby. I couldn't understand & kept thinking something wasn't right. Turns out I'd never been pregnant, it had all been a phantom pregnancy (scans & all) and they fidn't want to tell me as my mental state was too fragile....

Um, not too sure what to make of this...maybe I'm watching too much Days of our Lives???

PS: my mental state is just fine thanks!

Thanks Anthea, I thought as much...

How exciting to be having another girl... I'm secretly hoping for another girl. I'll obviously be happy with a boy, but another girl just makes sense. I've probably jinxed it now by saying something.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Hi all

The scan went very well yesterday! Doc is happy with baby's progress! He measured the neck fold and there's no problem there! He also made what he calls an educated guestimate and said he thinks its a girl!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: But will confirm at the next scan! With my LG he also guessed a girl and he was spot on… but he did say its still a bit early and he could be wrong! So now we wait (patiently) for our next scan on the 13th of August!

And then i went and left the scans at home :headbang: :headbang: Will post them after the weekend though!

@ Cherikey: AFM stands for "as for me" ;)

@Purplepoppie... that's exciting... I would have thought 12 weeks is a bit early for definate sex determination. Let us know as soon as you're back.

@Anthea, good luck for your scan. Let us know how it goes & do post a pic. Once you add a file. Under where you respond is an add file area, once you've selected your file there will be an insert button next to it. By clicking that, you'll insert the image into your post by the text. Hope this helps.

@Tracey... 14 weeks already, very exciting, i'm just 1 week behind you!

Can anyone tell me what AFM stands for? I see everyone uses it, but i never know what it means...

I've been getting a cold and been feeling quite grim lately... Snow predicted for our area this weekend, so gonna be pretty chilly here... Going to take my LG to Durban to see the airshow and for a bit of warmer weather...

Hubby left for London last Sunday and is away working at the Olympics for 7 weeks... This is going to be the longest we've been apart in 8.5 years...

How is everyone else doing?
