I was not able to exercise in my first trimester because of the bleeding and now I'm really struggling to get myself around to exercise. I try to make it to the gym for a few minutes of walking on the treadmill and some stretches and stuff, but ai, not very disciplined at the moment.

The Kegels I do try to manage every day, really find it beneficial with my first pregnancy and especially if you are going for natural birth!! Luckily you can do those at home while sitting on the coach!!

Thank you ladies you make me feel so much better just to know
others also feel this way and that I am not alone

I am also 1.75cm my hip measurement a tad bigger either size 36 - 38. It bothered me earlier when people couldn't see I am pregnant as you wonder but why don't they see my belly or do I just look fat! hahaha but I am guessing with the lenght advantage we carry smaller.

Our surname is also rather afrikaans so I am wary to what we choose. I am going to try and google the flemish and Anglo-Saxon suggestion thanks. We do have one name that we both agree on but not totally sure about it. It seems everything I suggest hubby doesn't like...

I also struggled with round ligament pain from about 8 weeks - 20 weeks it has been better the last couple of 2 weeks.
Same as Hantielab I get achy and sore when I lay down -either my back or I get a pinch pain in my right bum cheeck! no really it feels like I pulled a muscle...

Pre-Pregnancy I was rather active either going to gym or played squash but from the beginning of the pregnancy I was not able to maintain it mostly because of the round ligament pain. I now do 30min of low intense exercise every second day in the week and on weekends I sometimes try to go for a stroll.

Are any of you doing the Kegel excercises?

Hi Joans

A friend of mine named there son Nicolai, sounds foreign but actually I think it is a nice alternative to something like Nicholas. Both the names you are considering I think will be very nice and I agree there are a few very bad, stereo typical names out there, making it so much harder to find something original yet "af die plaas"

O goodness, you are tiny, I can imagine it will be quite a strain - good luck! At least being pregnant a bigger boned frame helps a bit :woohoo:
One of my friends are also very tiny and she regained her pre-pregnancy weight very quickly, basically walked out of the hospital looking stunning!!!

Let us know the decision on the names you all!! With surnames that is, so that we can help you spot major pitfalls

Hi Ladies!

I'm also feeling more emotional at the moment. Was a total mess in the first trimester, then it went away, and now I'm quite teary again! Hubby is getting the short end of the stick sometimes.

With names we're also struggling. Our surname is Odendaal so same problem. Anything remotely non-Afrikaans just sound ridiculous, especially as we decided the middle name will be hubby's father's name (Jurgen, doesn't get anymore Afrikaans than that). We realised how many horrible Afrikaans boys names there are only after we started thinking about it. At the moment the only two names we like are Lourens and Nicholas. Lourens has a back story as my mom thought I was a boy when she was preggers with me, and would've called me Lourens, only to find out I'm a girl! Nicholas was my grandfather's name, but I'm just a bit hesitant as our family already has a load of people named after him. But we'll see. Afrikaans surnames make it so tricky, haha!

Hantielab, even though I'm only having one babs, he's a BIG one (already measuring 2 weeks bigger than gestational age), and I'm also already getting very uncomfortable. If I lie on my back the pain is quite bad, and also I've been having some really bad round ligament pain and such as everything is shoving around in there. This might be because I am naturally really tiny, my pre-preg weight was around 47kg so the 3.5kgs I've gained feels like a lot on my frame, and it's ALL at the front (belly and boobs, nowhere else) so it's already not doing wonders for my back being this front heavy. Can only imagine how much more fun this must be with twins! :pinch: But I'm not allowed to complain, my mom had to be on complete bedrest with all three of her pregnancies and had really bad pain, so I count my lucky stars every day that I didn't inherit all her problems.

Hi hi

Don't worry Liefie, I'm on the brink of tears most of these days, especially after a bad night like last night (starting to getting all kinds of aches and pains from lying down). And then some days I feel as bright and energetic as my 2.5 year old!! Crazy, these hormones!!!

On the name thing, what is your surname. Our Afrikaans surnames tend to clash with some of the popular, funky names kids get these days. Especially boys, I mean they are stuck with their surnames, so picking a weird combination will stick for the rest of their lives. I was so "fortunate" to marry a Labuschagne, so you can imagine the difficulty also finding a cool name with that
We decided on family names but not necessarily the whole full Christian name thing. Our son is Rhenier (father and grandfather) and our twin daughters, on the way, will be Anika (grandma Annie Elizabeth) and Isabella (grandma Joan Isabella).

srgreyling sounds like we are the same size, with my first pregnancy I gained 18 Kg but because of the length I looked fine (I think). This time not so sure since I'm carrying twins, already huge and uncomfortable. Hopefully the swelling waits until the very end, it is quite annoying.

We're going for our 20 week scan on Wednesday, very excited to see these 2 rascals again.

Question, do you guys manage any exercise still?

Hi there

I am also feeling a bit "unappreciated" but I am sure it is just the hormones talking bcs when i review the day, hubby has actually been wonderful.

Names names names..... We have also thought about it, but we dont know the sex of babes, which makes it even more impossible. We are Afrikaans and English speaking and hubby is not interested in any family names. I came accross a site with Anglo-Saxon names. It makes it very easy as they can be pronounced in English and Afrikaans. Hubby quite liked Odelia and I loved Bawdawyn yes, I am aware of the Brandewyn, but it is a nice name with a good meaning). Another suggestion is to look at Flemmish names, as they are also close to Afrikaans.

Good luck with the name choosing to ALL!! It is quite a thing. I guess we will wait till babes are here and register later.Babes will be born in one town and go to another where Binnelandse sake is a dream... Gets a new ID for you in 2 weeks. AND NO QUE!!

Another subject.... apart from babes doing circus acts in my gut, shrinking jeans and the occasional queasy feeling I have been spared most 2nd trimester symptoms. No swelling, no hard burn, feel relatively normal, move very easily around. Someone even mentioned I am so tiny (I am 1.75m and hip size (under the layers of fats, around 36; so I not a small person). It is a bit weird for me. I am worried when the heat comes I will swell like a marshmallow... luckily the pool is just outside my door.

Hi Everyone!

Hope you had a great weekend! The weather was awesome for a change here in Cape Town!

The last couple of days it feels like I have been on a rollarcoaster of emotions, I am just so emotional - I even feel despondant towards my hubby, I feel unappreciated
but I am guessing it's the hormones. Do any of you feel like this or have felt like this with your previous pregnancies? I feel like I am walking with a constant lump in my throat ready to burst into tears!

On another note :) my husband and I are struggeling to choose a name... It seems like boy names are so much harder to choose..

Any suggestions from your side? We are afrikaans so pref a Afrikaans name but also
one that is easy to pronounce in English too (if that makes sense) We opted not to go for family names as we would like something a bit different.
