Hi Ronelle,

Sorry to chip in on your group - but I would personally opt to get baby out as quickly as possible - i.e go with the c-section. I feel that both c-section and induction are "interventions", and that most inductions are not successful (based on statistics). If nothing was wrong I would say that if you wanted to try and have a natural birth, try the induction, but as baby is already getting less and less oxygen, I would want to get baby out as quickly as possible - with an induced birth it might take a while to get her out, and it might not work anyway. In the end it is all about what is best for baby.

Good luck!!

OK, just came back from Dr. He is saying that placenta is disintegrating at an alarming rate and cervix are not thinning at all. Baby is getting less and less oxygen by the day. He does not want me walking with her beyond Friday. I have to choose... C-Sec first thing tomorrow morning OR go to hospital tomorrow night for induction with the hope of successfully delivering naturally on Friday

Doing my bit on google now to be sure of my decision. I think I want induction... dunno... Any advice?

RonelleB - Sorry, forgot about the doula, basically what Nelsn said. I saw her once at 39 weeks and that was fine.

Shame ronelle. Your emotions are running high, it's so normal. Just let it out and feel better. I would say in my opinion is that you shouldn't worry about how much rest youre getting or not getting. Just do what you can. On the other end, you enter a new world...you will get energy where you need it and feel drained as well. No one avoided feeling tired by sleeping more before birth. I think people just say that because they jealous that they can't sleep now and want to live through those who can

You will get through it no matter what. You will be fine and you will get through recovery before you know it, it's long over.

I took snacks, I would never have eaten anything during labour but since I had the epidural, I did eat them and also during recovery was nice to have.

Think it depends on the hospital. Mine allows a two partners.

Deep breathes. X

Nelsn - Sorry to hear about the spinal giving you problems - last thing you need right now. Hope it clears up soon... So glad to hear about the nappies, don't know how you manage with extra washing at this stage...
My older LG is not doing so great with the new baby. But I expected it to be this way, she is used to having almost all her needs met within a short space of time, so it is to be expected that the arival of new baby completely turned her little world upside down. She is just very defiant (she never was often) and making our lives a bit difficult at the moment, but we just keep giving as much possible love and affection and one-on-one time possible. I know it will improve with time, but now my heart is really sore for her, it is hard to see your child suffer so much.
The tear is slowly healing, and the pain in general is getting better down there (I can sit without a cushion!!) but the moment I stand or walk for too long the pain gets worse again. Will be making an appointment to see a pelvic floor specialist for my cervix that is till very low. Breast feeding going well although I had very painful breasts over the weekend (thought at first it was mastitis - eeeeek) but I managed to treat it well and all the hard lumps are gone now. Baby growing so fast that at 2 weeks she is going to fit into 3 - 6 months baby clothes!!!

RonelleB - Don't panic too much about the little sleep. I also didn't sleep well the last few nights before labour and it turned out fine. But what you shouldn't do is during the day overdo it by scrubbing like a crazy women or unpacking cupboards etc...go for walks, if you feel up to it but for the rest lie down as much as possible, even if you don't sleep. Eat well and drink lots of water. As for the snacks - we packed A LOT of food, way too much. I ate a good meal the afternoon before I went into labour and had an egg mayo sandwich on brown bread late afternoon in the first stages of labour. While in first stages of labour (and don't feel nauseas) I would suggest you snack on light foods to keep your blood sugar regulated. Keep drinking as much as possible water during labour and empty bladder every half an hour to hour. (surges are more intense on a full bladder). I drank some energade during labour too and had one banana, 3 provitas in active labour - didn't feel much like eating after 6 cm dialated.

I have nipple thrush that I got from my LO who has oral thrush...my breasts are extremely itchy and trying to resolve all the symptoms. :pinch: Never a dull moment with a newborn! B)
