Hi ladies!

Apologies for only posting now, no one told me that the first few days at home are sooo hectic!

Nels_ baby K is gorgeous! Looks like a peaceful baba...

Faffy_ how are you doing? Milk supply better yet?

Gloei_ how are you recovering? Did you see the doc again?

Newbie_ you're probably still basking in the glory of your bundle of joy..are you well?

Starry_ haven't heard from you in a while either...hope all is ok and that you have settled in nicely.

From my side things have been rather hectic. I am struggling with the wound and think i may have damaged something just below the surface - it is rather sharp specific pain in one area. Will wait a day or so and then call doc if it persists. I think we are now getting to a rhythm re feeding and sleeping so i am hopeful at least.
Two things i want to mention and ask please? 1) just FYI...when i posted about the 'wetness' on the Wednesday before my induction - it was actually my water that ruptured... my doc nearly had a fit that i waited till induction to say something ( my bad!) But it did not have any affect on my outcome either way. 2) i am incredibly swollen all over but especially my ankles and feet - nurse said to expect it and to be normal? Any of you suffer the same?

I will also try post a pic of baby Laila now...look forward to hearing from everyone again.

Gloie@ sorry to hear you still having some discomfort:(. I have the sling and the mei tai(spelling) wrap and really enjoy the wrap. Baby seems to sleep better in it.
Faffy@ i tried the jungle juice and egynol(sp) with my first and they both worked for short periods and the pills ended up decreasing my supply after some time. Please dont rush to drink anything as yet when K was about a week old I also thought my milk was getting less and bought Alfalfa and drank rehydrant it helped but a day or so later I decided to stop and realised that when letting baby drink even when I thought my boobs were empty was enough for him, in less than a week he gained almost 600grams. Feed on demand. Sleep as much as you can and eat as healthy as you can.
How are the rest of the ladies doing?

Hello Mommies

Ronnelle@ congratulation on your baby girl, lovely name Laila. Recovery is tough but gets better remember to relieve yourself often to lessen the discomfort. Try getting a belly binder to help support your muscles around that painful area and take your meds ( there were times I tried being super woman thinking I was fine and I paid painfully later). Enjoy your baby and just rest as much as possible. You did well and beautifully.
Happy belated mothers day mommies.

In all honesty, I would really hold off on the eglonyl. It's an anti psychotict meds which side effect is to produce more milk but once you start, you have to slowly wean yourself off of it. So, I would just leave it for now.

Weight is just one indicator. You need to look at the overall picture. Height, weight and head circumference. Also, best indication is how many wet & dirty nappies there is in a day. I also don't trust the scales drs & clinics use. To get an accurate reading every time, baby needs to be weight completely naked on the same scale every time.

Dr Jack Newman has spoken about this many times where he tested a few scales on the same day with a newborn and the weight differed hugely every time. So much so that if it happened some where else, that baby would've been placed on formula to gain weight immediately.....very scary

Sherbet, thanks for the advice about the jungle juice. I really don't want to over do the sugar.

Thanks blessed mom. So I went to doctor for wound check and to weigh baby. I told her that I feel my milk runs low at night. So she prescribed eglonyl to aapparently help my milk supply. I took it now but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with it. The pamphlet says 'not for breastfeeding mother's'. I know it's for depression but I am not depressed. I mean, I could have a bit of baby blues but I don't feel I need anti depressants. Anyways, point being.. Our little one weighs a little more than birth weight after a week..so although my milk hasn't leaking all over the place and engorged, it is making him grow. So do you think is should take the eglonyl and get breast full of milk, or should I leave it and allow some more time for it to get better?

X

Forgot to add...I completely agree with what Blessedmom is saying about Jungle Juice/Berry Elixir tonic. I am convinced the thrush happened to us because I was drinking too much of that stuff! It is really very sweet and I was having it a couple of times a day in the first week (because I was so tired...) - but I was having too much. All things in moderation and with anything containing sugar, be extra careful.
