AnaB - So happy that your scan went well. Now to wait for the next scan to confirm the gender. When is your next scan?

SimmyBunZ -Congrats on turning 12 weeks tomorrow! I am also turning 12 weeks on thursday and need to tell Discovery about it. Are you hoping for a natural birth? I am guessing that the doctor will eventually inform us if natural is possible or not.


Bea - you have 1 more week to see how Twin B is doing. Praying that all goes well with tomorrow's appointment. I am so glad you decided to leave those groups. Reading all the info from those group will only stress you and depress you, which you really don't need right now. Just do what you have too and have faith. And you are right there is no point about stressing about things now. Just have complete faith that all will go well.

Spirited Mama- My EDD is 9th Feb 2017 I am sure you are so anxious to find out the gender!

joo~ste- You are still in our prayers and we know how difficult it is to be in this group We wish you everything of the best and we will still continue to pray for you.

AFM: I have been really struggling with MS since thursday, was off from work for 2 days and finally seem to be feeling better. My appointment today is at 12.30 so I can't wait for that. I eventually contacted discovery and it has been confirmed that if you are on Coastal Saver plan and your medical savings fund is finished you will have to pay out of your own pocket I guess with or without medical aid there is always going to be additional costs.

Congrats on the 12 week mark! With regards to Discovery, you can just give them your EDD for now and your preferred delivery method. I put down natural delivery but it changed to emergency csec, but I had no problems with them. The hospital just called the authorization department when I was booked in to theatre and there were issues. Remember, nothing is a definite right now, it will always change. My daughter was born at 37 weeks, so my edd to discovery was out by 3 weeks, but they deal with this kind of thing every day so you mustn’t worry too much.

Not much to tell. I am 11 weeks today. I have been having daily headaches and my teeth feel quite sensitive so I bought some sensidyne yesterday. I googled…. Sounds like its quite normal at this stage

I say this with a pinch of salt but I think MS is on its way out I will be 12 weeks on Wednesday
My next scan is 5 Aug. Will be just over 13 weeks and will be doing the foetal assessment then too. Hopefully I will know if we are Team pink or Team blue. Oh and I really look pregnant now

Sure you can get all the info Discovery needs from your Dr. Generally you will only know closer to time who the anaesthetist will be. Admission will be your due date, but you obviously can change it closer to the time. If you plan on having a C-section, you can inform them, otherwise you can inform them closer to time if it becomes necessary that you are required to have a C-section.

@ Nnita - glad you are starting to feel a bit better

@ AnaB - glad your scan went well. Those babas can be so sneaky not to reveal all

@ Bea - Can imagine that you would just want that re-assurance...hate that we have to wait so long for the next scan!
I agree completely with you...no point in stressing over something that you have no control over or something that hasn't even happened yet. All you can do is to take things one step at a time/one day at a time and cross the bridge when you get there. Good luck with your scan tomorrow and let us know how it goes!

DebbieF, yes at my scary 12 week NT scan the MFM doc/sonographer said they were boys. The Harmony test also tests for gender - automatically since it tests the DNA in your bloodstream, but we haven't spoken about the results yet (except for the fact that there were no chromosomal abnormalities)

Hallo to all the other ladies, hope your well.

AFM: I'm 14 weeks now. We are meeting our new gynae tomorrow - my fertility clinic handled my first trimester and then we saw the specialist at 12 weeks - so it feels a bit strange that we haven't met our gynae yet... I actually wish we could see the sonographer instead to see how Twin B is doing, but we have to wait until 15 weeks, because he can't do anything/operate before 16 weeks so there's no point. But I guess the normal gynae tomorrow will at least be able to see if they are still both the same size which will be a good sign. I'm also anxious to hear about our care plan going forward - will we be going for weekly scans since TTTS - twin to twin transfusion syndrome - can happen within a week. Last week I've decided (or rather hubby convinced me) to get off all the Facebook MODI twin groups because it was freaking me out completely with all the complications and people losing their twins! I'm trying to convince myself that there's no point in stressing myself to death even before anything happens - if it happens, it happens - there's nothing we can do about it and stressing beforehand won't change anything. We also haven't told our daughter yet, but I think we might after tomorrow's scan if all goes well.

Ladies, I am 12 weeks on Tuesday - so I need to do my authorisation with Discovery on Tuesday. This is my first pregnancy, do I just phone the Dr and request the info? I need all the following.

Date of the admission
Name or practice number of the hospital or clinic
Name and practice number of the treating doctors and anaesthetist (if available)
ICD-10 code from your treating doctor (this is an alphanumerical code that describes your diagnosis (pregnancy), for example O82.0)
RPL code from your treating doctor (this is a procedure code that describes how you plan to deliver your baby, for example 2615)

Is the date of admission just your due date? And how do I know who the anaesthetist is, does my OB/gyn have somebody he would usually work with? And how you plan to deliver your baby, do they just assume natural, and you change it later if you need a c-section?
