@Megz i think its a boy! Only because of what i saw at my 12 week scan lol i saw boy parts im sure of it.

Regarding the 12/13 week scan, its called an NT (nuchal translucency) scan. Its a very detailed scan with measurements, where the check the baby for any abnormalities. Its coupled with a bloodtest and then the results of blood test and scan are added together to calculate the risk of downs etc.

Its pretty much standard

@Musa, Congratulations on having a boy! What tests are done at 13 weeks? I've booked my 13 week appointment on the 18th and Dr Moller said it's a very expensive appointment (2k) and I've very anxious to know what tests they do or what to expect??? I didn't want to even do the down's test because it won't make me terminate my pregnancy but they said I have to do it? is it just a blood test?? Thanks!

Doc appointment at 13w3d went well on the 4th - having a boy. So Amy you should get clear answer. Getting stitch done on the 12th- scared

Yaaay Elayne so glad your scan went well!!

Omw Megs that must've been quite scary. So happy everything looks good! And you got to see your baby a week earlier hehe.

My next appointment is 3 feb at 18 weeks. So thats quite a long wait for me BUT i booked a private gender scan at tummy time in somerset west for next sat, 14th! I'll be 14 w 5d and they say they can tell 100% at 14 weeks lol so we shall see. They had a special during the holiday period

Awesome Elayne so so glad all went well! It's an amazing experience. I have the same due date!

I also went for a scan today (my 2nd) - had a bit of a scare with some bleeding so dr told me to come see him this week instead of next. All seems ok though thank goodness. He did a 4D scan but the placenta was in the way and couldn't get a clear pic and the baby was also highly active - also moving about a lot.
