Charlene, ek dink dis great as daar 'n debat aan die gang kom. Goed as mense bietjie "hot under the collar" raak. Elkeen het sy eie opinie en dis wat great is van 'n forum.

Ek persoonlik glo in "natural" goed. Ek sal eerder die homopatiese way gaan as die antibiotika way, maar then again, as my kind siek is wil ek haar so gou as moontlik gesond kry. Dan eerder panado as dit nodig is.)

Elk geval, elke persoon mag vir hulle kind gee net wat hulle wil. Ek borsvoed en drink baie wyn. Party mense sal my seker daaroor stenig! :P

yip, if my dr prescribes antibiotics i give it, with a pro-biotic, obvioulsy not week in and week out but when its needed its needed. i really tried to keep quiet about the topic but its just not in me not to say something, it would irratate me till i burst!!!

Don't worry Charlene I felt exactly the same about that topic - not sure how a baby or child will get addicted to those stuff, it's more the parents getting addicted to it for knocking their children out. I mean I got a boot up my ass for giving B panado when she was 8 weeks or something when we were sleeping over and she got SO out of sorts that I didn't know what to do.

My sister, (the pharmacist) was like whats the big deal when I smsed her last night. Its only 8 - 12 % of the full strength and different children have different reactions to it.

I'm sorry, but I'm with Charlene on this one. If B ever gets so sick that I need to just kick her out I will go ask for codeine.

Growing up we all had antibiotics till it came out our noses and we turned out fine - I think :P

claire: so sorry to hear about your aweful week, hope the sun only shines from now forward for you and colby!

sumayad: hello angel face xxx

dr emailed me and said i must just watch the bump, it will probably go away again like last time, if not he will have a look when im in there again, he says but i should be worried, bad things dont pain. i know that, so im not too worried, but just dont know what it is...

i have something to get off the heart, i see there is another topic about bad medicines to give your baby, and i think the whole codein thing set it off, now please dont prosecute me for saying this, but i feel if it was so bad why would they put it on the market. stopayne for instance has been around for years, but the amount of codein in it is so little its harmless, its when you start overdosing on the stuff.
as for the ibuprofen, you mustnt give your child cause its bad, every one of us has given nurofen, so what now? who hasnt reached for the panado bottle it time of need????
i suppose people will have a heart attack if they know what meds my child is on, suppose im a bad person now for giving it???? this is serioulsy ridiculous and yes i know its own opinion to himself, but it causes a panic between other mothers. my point is why would it be on the market and be approved by the medical board if it was harmful????????????

Just a quick update from me.

B's snotty nose for the last 2 days turned a bit yellow/green this morning and she was crying, shame so I gave her a bit of panado - the drops that you suck up with the dropper and she actually took my hand and put the dropper in her mouth and swallowed and didn't spill a drop, went to bed and slept for 2 hours and now she's a happy chappy again.

Leaving her Sunday for the first time, my in laws are coming over for the weekend / my birthday / and babysitting duty while the other half of my family go to see Andre Rieu. Not that I'm really into classical music but it's a reason to get out of the house! Yay!
