Toddlers say the cutest things - have a read Featured

One of the most magical things about toddlers is learning to see the world through their eyes.

Everything is new and fascinating to them and they have a quirky way of processing this new information.

Moomie got the low-down on some of the hilarious things kids have come up with.

They have their own way looking at things

Mom Leigh tells about her little girl, who was two at the time, refusing to eat her breakfast before church, informing granny that she will have breakfast at church. Granny asks her what on earth do church give for breakfast? Responds Leigh’s daughter with: “bread and wine, granny”.

Lamees’s daughter, three years at the time, was asked how many slices of bread she’d like. Her answer? “Two snices, mommy”. When Mom rectified her, she responds with: Mommy, I didn’t recognise! (instead of realise). Lamees’s two-year-old son loved naming other cars as they drove by in traffic. One day they saw a Mitsabushi  drive by, very excitedly, he exclaims: “Mommy, Mommy, there’s a masepushi!”

They only hear what they hear

Hermien’s toddler was crying every time they said baby brother’s name, which is Mynhardt, of which the translation and meaning is “my heart”. He would sob through the crying, repeating “it’s my heart, it’s my heart”. He was very distraught, poor boy!

Josrae tells the story of her and her three-year-old girl baking her son a cake for his birthday. Of course little girl is helping her mum, while mum is reminding her over and over again that it is a surprise and she must not tell anyone. So what is the first thing she sad when she saw her brother the next morning? “Mommy and I baked you a cake, but shhhhhhh, don’t tell anyone, it’s a surprise!”

Mum Zulfah’s four-year-old daughter is your typical princess girl, she always wants to dress up in one fairytale theme or another. Mum tells that when you thank her for bringing you something or doing something for you, she responds with “It’s a treasure”. Believing these are the words that everyone else say when thanked.

They can be so straight forward

Mom Rochelle says her three-year-old made a life-changing statement. They were driving past three horses, and her toddler pointed at them, exclaiming excitedly: “Mommy, see there the horsies! I am going to ride on the small one, and daddy on the other one, and look over there, you’re going to ride on the fat one!” Rochelle was quite shocked and reports that she did lose a few kilos after that honest statement!

Sheetal’s five-year-old girl was looking at her intently the one day. After some time she made the statement that Sheetal has too many shoes. “And you should give some away to people who have no shoes!”

Mom Karen’s daughter struggles with the fact that she tells her husband that she loves him. But she also does tell her girl that she loves her too. So her girl says she loves her the mostest.

Toddlers really do bright up our lives, we are the lucky ones! Don’t miss this magic time and not record all these stories in a little book. One does unfortunately tend to forget all the lovely stories, so write it down! Moomie would love to hear funny stories of your little word wizards. Next week we bring you some more toddler hilarity!
