Yes that is what I do too stacy. Joli I agree with you. It would get out of hand and I ask the same quiestion. If I don't send a gift to the school would Dylan be excluded? It really isn't about the gifts. I don't expect Dylan to get gifts for his home party. That is not what its about and I would prefer his friends to be there than rather not attend because his friends parents can't afford a gift. I must also add that people who will not drive 15km to a party are not friends.

Dylan has about 12 kids in his school that are more or less his age. The rest are very young so are not part of the party. I really don't mind sending cake.

Yes it is school policy that I attend the parties held at the school for dylan. It is too disruptive for them. The school takes photos though.

I guess the school do not view it as a party really. You have just send some eats for break for all the kids.

Hi
wow, this is the first I've heard of this. What if you answer no , then what... they exclude your LO. I personally think its wrong to even allow parents to send these invites to arrange such parties. My LG who is now 6 always takes bday cake and party packs to school but I never expect anything in return. She then has her birthday party where she invites who she wants and then gift are given.

I have 2 little girls and we living in Hong Kong.

I won't be sending gifts to my child's school for a party there. I'm only sending gifts to 'private' parties and I have now explained to Kayla that she can not go to each and every party she gets invited to and that she can not invite each and every child in her class / grade. She can only go to her friends parties - the kids she actually plays with. Sorry, but if I had to send out 28 gifts a year, I will be really broke, then still the gifts for kids that's not in her class. For Kayla's b/day this year (she turned 7) we had a big party at Gold Reef City - 15 kids - and only about 9 kids brought gifts and my heart was very sore for her, but so be it. I do send cupcakes / party packs to school as well. And no we don't attend the party at school. I also can't understand the trend about sending out invites to a school party cause can the parents really RSVP NO?? I guess if it's acceptable at the school and all the kids have their parties there and everybody send gifts, then it's OK and acceptable, but otherwise not. Really it's not the other parents problem if your child is not going to have a party with family / own friends - that's just how I feel about it. I don't expect gifts from the school and won't be sending gifts either.

Sorry Julz, not understanding! Do you mean you are not allowed to attend your own LO's party, if it is at the creche? Or do you mean the other parents? How big is his class and school?

The problem with our small school is that they do not allow parents to attend the party with all the kids there which I understand.

Yes, that is what we did with her 1st birthday as well! I asked the teacher how many children is in the class, they were 23 this year, made party packs, cupcakes etc for 25, just to be safe!

We usually have both. A party at the school for his school friends (not formal with invites) and then one at home for our friends with kids.

A party at school is nice for the kids its just that what do you do if parents RSVP no?
