Chris- i was going to re cover my car seat and then when i realised it was twins i changed my mind, partly because i would've made them but also i just feel like I don't care what colour they are or what they look like, i would rather spend the money on making the babies look cute LOL you're right, no one can resist dressing twins and trips the same!

Seriously consider just buying yourself new but cheapoer car seats, R1500 second hand sounds expensive to me!

you'll soon learn to take peoples advice with a pinch of salt (especially family advice) and if people push you to buy their stuff from them and you really don't want it just say NO! they're trying to make a quick buck out of you having lots of babies, you can buy new stuff cheap, in fact probably cheapoer than they're charging second hand.

i would also spend money on a double breast pump!

ha ha ha Chan,

you know somethings are essential and they need to be good quality like nappies etc but i think these days most people are on a budget.

I remember when my oct/nov2008 group started, i was so jealous of all the nice expensive things some of the preggy moms were buying but now we go to our meets and all the babies are exactly the same wether they were bought R5000 prams or a R500 pram like my boy.

With C i bought a cheap pram from baby boom, cost me R500 and it really did the trick until baout 5m when i decided a stroller was just easier since he was sitting so i bought R200 stroller from Ackermans. so in total i spent R700 on 2 modes of transport for my boy and they worked perfectly.

My SIL had a bit more money to spend and she bought a huge Gracco travel system, she swears it was the best buy ever but then she was still pushing her baby around the table to fall asleep at night and during the day at a year old, uh uh that's a big no no for me.

My pram has been sat behind the sofa for over a year now so I'm pleased i didn't spend more than R500. the stroller lives in my car and whenever i go out i use that. well not anymore, these days he won't sit in it (since 18m) so i am really pleased i didn't spend much, what a waste it would've been. Now when we go out he has a leash and he loves to walk!

Not a problem.

I actually didn't think about changing the car seats, forgot about that.

Yup, my whole perspective has changed, I wanted this nice camp cost, but no anymore, camp cot, car seat and singleton pram, my sister has and I know how it has been looked after, so will more than likely use hers, camp cot, we will only use 1 until they can no longer fit, I cannot have 3 camp cots in my room. There are thinngs that I will want ne, especially if half or most of the things will be borrowed form friends/family. We have a huge family/friend circle who have ALL had babies and already trying to get rid of their things on me. For now, I have to bite my tongue and take them on their offer for big things such as these. I am however looking for a double breast pump, which I am battling to find so might have to spend on that. I am going to feel like a milking cow! :)

We will be on a serious budget too, that is why we want to wait a bit, we are in a different position to other first time mommies so have to watch it. I wont be buying any clothes or that sort as Im sure I probably will get quite a bit at baby shower, as much as I would like to, but I think I would rather get myself comfy summer dresses as I am picturing maternity clothes not even fitting me at the end, lol, not even dh's large shirts! I will have the large tummy bulging out underneath, gosh, I can just picture it.

If I do have borrowed car seats or whatever, I might want to have covers made for them, if they cant all be the same, maybe the covers can :), if not it really is no biggy for me, but will see when we get there. I mean as much as we dont want to dress twins/triplets the same, we just cannot resist cos they just look so cute, it amazing to see double or triple of the same, lol!

yay santie! can't wait to hear how your appointment goes!

camp cots are the same for me, the expensive ones with the bassinets in the top look so nice but the bassinet you can only use up to 3m and the higher level you can only use until they start to pull themselves up around 5/6m (o.k your babies will be early but you'll probably get the same length of use once they're out of hospital as a full term baby would from birth)

I was on a serious budget with my boy so bought the R500 camp cot from baby boom. i used the top section for 5/6m then put him down to the bottom until about 2 weeks ago and now he's in a big bed, so 3x R500 camp cots will be just as good as 3x R1500 camp cots.

I know you are going to want everything to look so nice for your 1st borns but ultimately with 3 (or even 1 as i had) the money can be way better spent on clothes, nappies and formula if you use it)

Cot mattresses NEVER buy second hand, you just don't know what has been spilt into the mattress (i.e milk) and will create mould spores which your LO will breath in, if there is only 1 thing you buy new makke it a cot mattress. O.k I'm using C's mattress for one of my twins but then i know i had a mattress protector on it and nothing ever went into the foam.
