Weeskind – congrats on the LG!!
Phillipa – love the bump!
Milan – welcome! Congrats on the LB!
Noelene – congrats on the LB also!
TaNasha – glad you had a great scan. Those flutters are great.
KarienH - stunning pic – he looks gorgeous.
MsDee – your DH is coming home today!

Esmari – how is your hand? Hope they uti clears up before it really starts
I so get the ‘want to push’ thing. Really hard to explain to people – but there is just this urge within that makes you want to do it. If that even makes sense. I truly get what you are saying!

Solo – you can just say natural on your form when you book your bed. If you decide on a c-sec, it’s also okay. I think it’s more that they know you are going to the maternity ward.
Discovery is really not cool with taking everything from savings. I have not claimed for my gynae visits. Trying to save my savings for later the year and also with my first LG being on meds for her asthma. Last year ran out of savings half the year, so hoping it will last a bit longer this year.

Meags – nice belly pics!

Sorry can’t reply to everything – so far behind.

AFM – no idea how much weight I have gained (thinking to much), but it’s okay, I’m not going to stress about it now.

Mornings

Meags, wow, gorgeous bump!

Betty_F, did you get my email?

I think I am starting a uti. I have light cramps, and have to wee lots more! Darn! Hope Id skip it this time!

We are looking into getting hospital insurance. It pays R3000 pd while you are in hospital. And the money is paid towards you, and you can do with it watever you need. Pre existing conditions are paid. Still looking into it.

Have to decorate another cake today, but so not in the mood!

Meags - that last photo is beautiful, but scary. I used to love pregnant women's bodies and now they kind of scare me. And I only mean its scary because I also feel so big at 24 weeks and can't imagine getting that big.

But despite being able to do less, I love love love my bump - I keep touching it and dh loves it as well. He thinks it's sexy :)

Esmari, I also looked into paying my own hospital bills because my medical aid only allows me to used certain hospitals. But in the end we decided against it, because although we'd be able to get the money for a straight forward birth or c-section, we'd be really screwed if anything goes wrong and me or the baby needs extra medical care. Those bills stack up like nothing. So, if you do know you have a good government hospital, I'd rather go with that, then if you need extra care you know you'll be able to get it without worrying about the money.

Tanasha and Solo - those first movements are the best. And they feel so special because they're so private.

I feel the baby move all the time now, and I can see my stomach move when he kicks, but I was surprised at the dr how much he can move without me feeling anything. He must be doing some crazy stuff for me to actually feel and see him.

I'm almost done with this loooong post. Just one question...

Does anyone know when we should book our beds at the hospital? I thought I'd go around 26 weeks and book it and then I can get my scan between 28 and 30 weeks. Does that sound right?

Solo - i also feel like a beached whale.
Before falling pregnant, we got married 4 months earlier and I lost 10kg and 2 dress sizes. then by some miracle, I was pregnant and now 18kg later...I am a true beached whale.
But its amazing how you feel so large!! I remember at 20-24 weeks thinking "I cant get any bigger surely???" and now when I look at those photos I think "wow I wasnt even that big :p"

so here are a few photos to show you my growth.
20 weeks

Well I've just booked my antenatal classes! Just plain old ordinary child birth classes - nothing special. But they are almost down the road from my house!
My medical aid sucks. All my antenatal care, antenatal classes, gynae visits incl my amnio etc come from my medical savings. And its nearly depleted already. Discovery isn't playing fair.

MsDee LOL at the "what have I done?" Hmm that's me as well... I prayed and prayed for years for a baby - esp as my biological clock started ticking louder and louder. Now I'm petrified!!!!

Esmari I feel your frustration and desire to push - it's a God given desire - our bodies were made to give birth.

Thanks Tshepy for the advice re booking the bed :)

Esmari, i also want to push. It's funny that until i fell pregnant i used to think that women who go natural are crazy. But something in me just wants to so strongly. I keep praying to G_d that nothing goes wrong and i end up having to go the c-section route. I won't even listen to anyone's opinions about it. Head in the sand, bum in the air! LOL! I understand that it is painful and all, but i'm a strong believer in that whatever you pay attention to will become your reality. So i will not start scaring myself with thoughts of pain or things going wrong.

I'd say find out as much info as possible and unless there is risk to the baby or your life, try and believe that you will have your natural birthing experience as you so much desire.

LOL @ Gynea's with old machines. Mine too! I can't see anything at all to be honest, i don't know if hubby can. I just sit there and listen to him saying, there's the stomach, liver etc and it looks good and i just say "okay"

Solo, you just discribed exactly how i feel; Like a beached whale who can't believe she's pregnant and is panicking cause she doesn't know where to start with this mothering business!
Funny how "ready" i was when we were TTC. I just couldn't wait! Now it's like OMG! What have i done??? :silly:
