Hi Everyone,

I've just joined the thread, my due date is about the 5th of September, but I'm going for my first scan on Monday (12 weeks) and then I guess they'll tell me what it should be.

And thankfully I've made it through the first trimester without any morning sickness

ah, just got reply form my MA and they do cover circumcision so one less thing to worry about

Yes, also heard there are some good GP's who do it....especially Muslim one's who have a lot of experience

Skai, I really have no advice to give re circumcision. Check the baby section - there is a thread going on there about circumcision. Apparently there are really good GP's who do it - not sure how true that is.

Then Skai, i agree with you, then I will also do the circumcision.

But what it costs I have no idea

Skai - bear in mind my son was born nearly 12 years ago so costs were ALOT lower!
The day i was admitted we were asked if it were to be a boy, were we going to circumcise. They morning after he was born I was visited by the Dr who would perform the circumcision to make arrangements etc. He told me it would be R400 while were still patients at the hospital, but if we were to be discharged and come back another time, it would cost R700. So guess what we chose

He was my first born so the whole nappy/navel thing was new to me, and cleaning him was a nightmare but in retrospect I'm glad it was all over and done with at the same time. Imagine I had to do the navel thing first and then afterwards have to deal with circumcision too - 2 weeks of agony for us both!

Nonetheless - the bill arrived 2 weeks later for.....................R1400!!!!!
Can you believe it?
R400 was only the SURGEON's fee - the rest was theatre and hospital fees etc like the needle, swab.
Luckily the medical aid covered the entire cost at the time. Not sure what the costs are now though - I will have to investigate.

If I have another LB and the circumcision is going to cost too much then I would go to a dr afterwards to do it in his surgery as opposed to in-hosp.
