Hi Hapi,

There are two companies I've come across that help with uif:

www.mothersjoy.co.za/ (if you're a dischem moms & tots member you get discount)

www.momsuifassist.co.za/

I found this under the faq section:
"When am I supposed to submit my application to the UIF?
In the law it says at least 8 weeks before commencement of my leave but the department don't want to take my forms!

Unfortunately, the Department of Labour's IT system cannot process your application before your maternity leave has officially started. You can only submit your application the moment that you do not receive your full remuneration from your employer."

Hope that helps a bit :)

hello Dollas

Laliek - baby shower already? omw,you keep reminding me how close we are to our edd's. Mugg & Bean is perfect. I cant believe baby C is weighing that much already, I have my checkup next week thursday so we will see how that goes.

Ankies, you are so lucky you dont have much to buy.

Quick one girls, I think this was discussed at the beginning of our thread. UIF, when do you submit the forms to ensure that payment is effected first month of mat leave?

Good day

I hope every one had a nice day off yesterday
Laliek - wow you LB is growing
Laliek i was thinking for the 11th what about Mugg & bean at 10

With regarding the room, we are going for a pink & purple room with butterflies & flowers, but I have curtains and bed linen already, had 2 girls that stayed with us for a while. So I have that, so I do not have to buy much. I will get new linen for the cot, and my mom said she will buy that for me. So im not buying that much

I am just glad it is Thursday and not Monday today - whoohoo

Have a great day

Hi there girls!

Sorry I haven't been on here in a while - been busy again at a client with another deadline audit. I'm getting so nervous actually as I have 8 weeks of work left but about 5 companies to finish auditing by then!! I'm managing the jobs but still - stressing a bit!

How's everyone doing? I saw you discussed themed rooms - I also wanted to do a type of theme room first (only bring in elements), but also the cost of doing that is tremendous and although it looks gorgeous sometimes, you're rarely going to use it anycase. Well that's my feeling, as I have a campcot in my room where Cameron will sleep the first few months in the evenings and then during the day he can sleep in his nursery. I'm at last done with the nursery except for shelves that I still want on the walls but we'll probably put that up next month and then a few accesories I'm waiting for.
His room is not really baby and my mom luckily made all the linen and curtains for me so I'm very happy with it. I'll try post some photos of the work in progress later!

Great so we are on for the 11 june coffee meet at Clearwater? We can set a time and place - where do you girls think?

AFM: Had our scan on Tuesday, Cameron is doing very well, he's still a big boy. Weighed 1.4kg at 27w4d. I'm getting more and more uncomfortable now as well and my belly seems to be expanding overnight!! We have our 4D scan on Saturday - soooo looking forward to it!! I'll also post pics when we're done - if I can now figure out why I can't seem to post pics even after making them smaller!!

Have a lovely day ladies!! Oh and in 2 weeks it's my babyshower - also looking forward to that :)

Hi Happi - I have to say I agree. I'm not huge on the baby themed rooms myself but it really is personal preference. Nurseries really are more for the parents ;) That's why I've decided to go with a very pale blue colour on the walls and then am accesorizing with a few brightly striped basket thingies from Mr Price and a brightly coloured throw for the rocking chair. Am also making a quirky mobile using these cool wobbly insect things from a nursery (a plant one) ;) So nothing is going to be particularly 'babyfied'...
My reasoning is also financial...don't want to kit out the nursery and then have to redo it all a couple of years later when he's toddling about :P This way I can add whatever colour accessories he likes and it should look great. It really is possible to do something that will 'grow' with your little girls...more neutral or pale colours etc....
But I say - do whatever you and DH want! It's such a fun thing to decorate the nursery so just do what feels right...

Skai, im so glad to hear that you are happy with your kitchen. I lived in a flat immediately after varsity and I know how cupboard space can be an issue.

Ankies, I hope things work out as planned - how I would just love to be a SAHM. Im hate my boss right now

I need your input re baby room. someone suggested that I keep deco to a minimum and not overdo with the paint and stuff and when the girls are just over a year we do their room properly as by then their their likes & dislikes will be more evident. the person further mentioned that they will enjoy the room more at toddler stage rather than now. it made sense when she said it - What do you girls think ?
