Hey

I am so disappointed :(

I changed to Dr Trouw because I saw on a few forums that he assists with VBAC's. Now that there are 11 weeks to go he is statring to say "the usual" things that the c/s kings out there are known for. I have the feeling like he is backing out.

I think my DH is going to have a heart attack if I say that I want to change my doctor and hospital again.

I cant believe in this day and age that you have to fight so hard to even be heard. I am a healthy woman that meets all the requirements for VBAC. Can anyone give me advice on what I can do please. Has anyone out there had a VBAC by him?

Thanks

LogansMom, yes you can do a hypnobirthing course, I'm convinced it will make your chances for a VBAC much better.

Which dr are you going to? I know Dr Trouw at pta east does VBACs. I was with him for both my babies (both natural, no pain killers, last one with hypnobirthing) and he was very supportive of the hypnobirthing. It was an amazing experience and pain is not an issue as you are truley relaxed so your body is not in pain.

Would reccommend a hypno birthing course for any natural birth but especially for a VBAC as there is no forced pushing and you are relaxed so the chances for rupture is greatly reduced. And because you are relaxed, you dilate much faster, baby has less stress so better chance of success!!

Hello everyone

I am a vbas hopeful for 13 weeks time. EDD is 8 Oct, I am going to a doctor at PTA East. I have heard that he has performed some successful VBACs.

DH thinks I am crazy to want to go through the pain, but I have managed to convince him with facts that it'll be better for me than an elective C/s.

I am trying to eat healthy and walking for about half and hour a day - but is there anything else that I can do to try and improve my chances?

Thanks

Spiral thanks for your help, I spoke to Sandy and we have tentatively discussed the way to go about this, she advised me about Dr Carolyn Nel, she did mention though that Carolyn was not exactly thrilled abotu vbac's.

However, I took your advice Julz and spoke to the medical aid (I am adamant not to be buillied into anything this time around and making sure of all of my facts) so they told me that I am welcome to make use of a midwife, and I can use the gynae as well but there is a total of 12 visits that should be split between the two of them that is covered and the rest is for my own costs. They also said that I am welcome to use VP, which is excellent news as everyone mentioned they have the best rate of vbacs. Also it is not too far away from home (was at CT Medi-Clinic last time). There is one thing that DH is a bit sceptical about, the fact that we are going to drive past Constantiaberg to get to VP...

Ich, a bit off the topic I know, but I am getting so tired of our stupid medical aids...... One of my good friends had had 2 normal deliveries, but they were very quick labours so her last pregnancy they were concerned about her delivering in the car. Kingsway hospital is 5 minutes from her house, but wasnt in her hospital list, so her medical aid refused to authorise delivery there. The closest network hospital was 30minutes away. She was caught between a rock and a hard place because if she went into labour and went to kingsway with a precipitous labour she would be covered because it would be an energency delivery. If she went to Kingsway and then had a long labour she would have had to foot the bill for not using an approved hospital. She decided to opt foran induction to save herself the stress, landed up needing an emergency c sect after 20hours and baby landed in NICU - all from a failed induction that could have been avoided if her medical aid had been more reasonable. I seriously think that pregnancy as a PMB shouldnt fall under the elective category in terms of hospital choice.........

You could try using sandy standish as she's the only midwife alllowed at Constantiaberg Mediclinic with Dr Caro Nel as back up.
I have also had Dr Veronique Eckhardt at CT Medi clinic do vbac's
