Bulelwam - exciting that you are interested in learning HB too, I am the only practitioner in the western cape, in just over a year I have already made a difference, I have taught 100 women now and the hospitals in my area have started changing policies - dropping VE's, discussing opening a natural birthing room.
Changes only come with demand.

I know Hasie, I actually get a bit sad when I talk to other pregnant women about what I'm researching and discovering and they just look at me like they just discovered I have a screw loose....funny really but sad.

I know I can't conquer the world but if I can help one person, that's what its all about.

Thanks Nef..will keep in touch.

I'm so glad you are feeling inspired and excited!! What a wonderful journey you have ahead of you!!

I have found that many of my friends thinks I'm totally crazy, but the few who listens to what I have to say goes on to have great birthing experiences.

Thanks Hasie, I looked at the babyjourney site. I am really interested.
I read your birth story.....eish, your daughter made you wait.... but then babies are born when babies are ready.

Yaz, I looked around the forum and couldn't see your post, but eventually I found it. Its incredible, I'm sold on Hypnobirthing definitely. Can't wait for my turn.

Thank you guys for the support.
The book am reading is an eye opener, I have 3 more pregnant friends and they just can't believe that its possible to give birth without pain management. I am going to share all I learn with them so they too can have a great experience. Which is why am so interested in getting training as doula or in hypnobirthing so I can also help other women.....

Later then
B

I agree Yaz, the staff are just not into it!! If I have another baby I will plan a home birth.

Bulelwam, there are a few HB mommies here, if you have lots of time you can go through the tread of my daughter's birth, or rather the week leading up to it and the birth story.

Hi Bulelwam,

Yes, I had a hypnobirth (although my stupid gynae tried to intervene). My birth story is on the birth story thread, if you'd like to read it. I did the HB course with Nefertiti here in Cape Town - she's awesome ;)

I think you would be a great candidate for a successful hypnobirth, seeing that you are planning a homebirth! Actually, Nef's second child was born at home, too. The staff at most hospital maternity wards are simply not used to unmanaged and intervention-free births anymore and the pressure on women that want to deliver naturally and drug free is huge! At one point during my active labour phase I had to almost shout at the poor nurse who kept popping in every ten minutes to ask if I'm really sure I don't want an epidural!

Again, best of luck to you!
