Morning LAdies!

We also had a busy weekend - went to a dog training seminar that lasted most of the weekend. It was fun, and nice people there, but started at 6:30 in the mornings so I just let hubby go to the early sessions alone while I slept in and read my book ;)

Momtoc, I've also been doing the "painful wax" thing, but with a do-it-yourself kit at home  WOW its sore! But hopefully if I do it every 2 weeks, by my due date it will be easier going... :pinch:

Re vaccines, we had a lady come in to the ante-natal classes and explain everything to us. The gov vaccines are pretty much the same as the private ones, but also momtoc and mosaneo are correct, some vaccines are optional and you get them mostly at the private clinics. At the Storks nest in Sunninghill, you can actually ask for them to give you government vaccs, and just the extra optional vaccs are then more expensive. I guess we'll go that route. Also the lady explained that a vacc programme in a country only works if 95% of the population is actually vaccinated, this protects the 5% who are not, as well as very young babies that havent had their vaccs yet (like the measels one you can only get at 16 months, I believe). In places like Ireland, where they some people have not been getting their vaccs for years noe, and less than 95% of population is therefore vaccinated, babies are now dying of stuff like whooping cough and measels, before they can be vaccinated against it, because the rest of the population (adults, older kids) are carriers of the virus. Its pretty shocking, so I'm all for vaccinations.

Been to the doc this morning, btw, everything fine for 34 weeks, baby girl is weighing about 2.4kg. Yay!!

Anyway, hope you girls have a wonderful week!

Good morning ladies

I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing long weekend!!!

Clueless, I know what you mean. I absolutely hate sleeping with a bra @ night.

pales, can't believe you only have 2 weeks left..... :woohoo:

Magz, congrats on your anniversary! I hope you guys had a wonderful getaway.
Also can't believe you only have 6 weeks left. I still have about 8 weeks left :(
As for the vaccines - The government clinics are obviously free, where as the private clinics are very expensive, even more expensive than Clicks & Dischem. I've never been to Stort Nest so not sure how they work. I know there are standard vaccines you need to get & then there are a few that are optional - can't remember which ones as my lg got every single vaccine there is. I spend alot of money on vaccines cause my previous med aid didn't cover a single one as where Discovery will pay but it comes from my savings, which is okay. I know there are alot of debates around vaccines. Some experts say you don't have to vaccinate your children & that some vaccines are dangerous & where other parties say it's vital to get vaccinated. I personally prefer to vaccinate my children. We were vaccinated & I know these vaccines work cause my lg picked up measles when she was almost 2 from the creche & the only symptoms she showed was a fever, no rash or anything. If her excellent GP didn't have a gut feeling to do bloodtests, we wouldn't even have known she had it & she was perfectly fine, even though we had to stay at home for a week

mosaneo, congrats on your 7th year anniversary  You must enjoy another long weekend with hubby B)

AFM, had a nice but busy weekend. My lg jumped on her trampoline the whole freakin weekend & now her back is sore  She also played in the water with her swimming baby hehehe. We had a nice braai yesterday & I went for a painful wax on sat

Thank you ladies.

Magz wow nice, at least you got to rest before the baba arrives.

the shots are all the same, you just pay not to stand in a long line. But there is one short that is not offered at clinics but you can get at clicks and all the other places where you pay. i cant remember at how many months but eya it started in 2008, you will get an sms to take you baby in for that shot.

I also think i will go for the clicks or dischem route but the shot that i am talking about is expensive (cant remember how much) because the government doesnt give it out. All the shots are given to the private places where we pay by government still and they just charge us for their services, i heard this from the clicks nurse.

I have not packed any bags, i still have alot of things to buy, hopefully i will get some this weekend. it is just so hard to buy for baby when i am supposed to also uy my son summer clothes.

Congradulations Mosa i hope the weekend is memorable for you and hubby.

Magz its crazy i actually have 2 weeks before maternity leave yay. on the clinic issue i doubt that there is a difference between injections except for the price. with stork nest i heard it`s like R 1500.00 and may be covered by medical aid. the clinic is completely free and my friend recently had a baby and took here`s for his shorts at links pharmacy it cost her R100. 00.

i think i will take that route for R 100.00 coz sitting at a government clinic the whole day doesnt work for me i did it with my son. i was fortunate because my doctor had the shots as well and charged me normal consultation fees.

Morning ladies

Hope you all had a fabulous long weekend.

Mosaneo, Congratulations on your 7 year anniversary !

We've also just celebrated our first over the long weekend in Zimbali- i guess this was our last getaway before baba arrives.

Clueless, i live in maternity bra's. could not handle my usual underwire bra's after month 5  . As momtoc said the cariwell range is great, stretchy and comfy!

On the hospital bag...i've packed most of the blankets and toiletry type stuff for my bag.
But i'm also waiting for my baby shower before i go shop for the rest of the clothes and vests etc.... I know most peoplealways buy cute new born outfits, but i'll probably be returning these for bigger sizes (3-6/ 6-9 months). I'm guessing the first 3 months go very quickly, and we wont be out and about that much?

I have a question on immunisations if anyone can answer. What is the difference between the injections the state gives (at state clinics) and those given at storks nest, for example? The private ones are VERY expensive and i was wondering if there are any added benefits. I mean i'm healthy and 'normal' (i think) and i had the state injections.

Ive started an official countdown which is proudly displayed on my desk for the number of days till i go on maternity leave :woohoo: :woohoo: . 6 weeks and counting............

Have a lovely day ladies.
