Happy friday ladies

I'm so so relieved that it's long weekend. It's going to be a busy one but hey, what's new about that!!!!!

mosaneo, I haven't bought much yet. I haven't even bought any nappies I'm waiting for my discovery baby bag then I'll go buy nappies & so forth. I'm also waiting for my babyshower to see what I get before I go out & buy things. I've bought a few baby clothes but that's it. Luckily I've got all the big things that I kept from my lg - camping cot, walking ring, pram, car seat, carry seat, carry cot etc. I've received all the forms I need to complete to book my bed & it includes a book that explains what they need from you on that they & it looks similar to Clueless list

Clueless, I've attached a pic of what receiving blankets look like. You can get it anywhere - ackermans, edgars, woolies, jet, babycity & so on. They are thinner than your celllular blankets & it's to wrap the baby in. I think 2 for the hospital will be fine.

As for dressing - the hospital is quite cool inside so I would rather pack in long sleeve babygrows with long sleeve vests & also short sleeve vests I personally prefer the onesies vests (they fasten over the nappies) above your normal vests cause they pull up.

AFM, I went to fetch the forms @ reception last week sat to book my bed but the forms are frustrating me cause there are places I'm not sure what to write. I'm gonna take it back to reception tomorrow & hopefully they can help me. I'm not gonna take a tour of the maternity ward cause I had my lg there so I know what to expect

Excellent idea Mosa! We did get a list at hospital of what to buy, and there is another thread on here about C-sec that I also used. I havent got everything on my list yet. have to go buy a.s.a.p. Anyway, here's my hospital list (I'm having a c-sec so some items specifically for that):

Pajamas (2 sets)
Maternity bra's (x2)
Clothes for baby (8 sets)
Receiving blankets (x2)
Toiletries for me
Dark colored wash cloths (x2)
Baby shampoo
Baby Aqueous cream
Baby oil
Baby bum cream
Cotton wool
Surgical Spirits
Natura rescue drops
Jungle juice
Nipple cream
Baby wet wipes
Diapers (1 pack)
Maternity pads
Smaller normal sanitary pads
Breast pads
Disposable panties (Carriwell)
Linen Savers
Sports (squirty) bottle for drinking water after c-sec

Support belt (buy at Dischem or Woolies)

I have questions tho, perhaps the 2nd time mommies here can answer. Firstly, How warmly should a newborn be dressed? I only have short sleeved babygrows. Lots of them. And I have long sleeved vests, but the type that just looks like tiny normal long sleeved shirts (no fastenings between legs). Will this work for summer? Can I just put on a long sleeved vests and a short sleeved babygrow over that?

Secondly, what are receiving blankets? I have lots of warm fleece blankets, and 2x cellular cotton blankets (but they are quite thick too), but nothing thinner. Are receiving blankets thinner than cellular? What do they look like and how many do I need? Where do I get them? Baby city doesnt have anything on the shelves called specifically "Receiving Blankets", or if they did, I missed it.

Yo Mosa i actually planned to buy everything needed for mommy and baby at the hospital this weekend gynae`s orders.other than that im only planning on big ticket item next month. As the days draw nearer i feel way to excited but having serious nightmares about dday.

gave birth to my son at 36 weeks and gynae predicts that it might be the same with my little one. i asked around and ppl actualy say that they gave birth at the same weeks for all their kids. can someone with more than who`s on their third pregnancy maybe advice.

So ladies how about an update of the things you have bought for the baba, packed hospital bag for baby and mommy, what have you packed and has anyone received a list on what to pack from the hospital?
