Lisha glad to know that we are not the only ones not eating together, lol. It just difficult as if i start supper as soon as i get home, i wont be able to spend much time with K, so thats why we eat later.

I think from once his 2 i will start supper earlier, eat together and push K's bedtime to abit later, as its hard for us for him to go to bed so early but he is sooo tired due to only having one sleep during the day. :(

Okay so now df feels like a braai?? wish this man would make up his mind

Lisha agree...a mom's job is never done....

Nicole Shrey has supper first and I usually give him bath shortly after and then only do I eat. Most times dh & I don't eat at the same time during weekdays either, mostly because once we get home I feel that the grannies 'job' for the day is done and it's time for us to take over. A mommies job is never done hey!!!

Nicole, we all eat together at 6. The twins used to have dinner at 4h30, then 17h00 and then 17h30 but we always eat at 18h00 so they used to moan and cry for our food when we ate. Now they eat much better cause we eat with them and there's no moaning etc.

I know I wouldn't cook the way I do if I worked till 18h00 like I used to. I think 17h00 is still ok but it limits you a lot. I used to marinate meat etc. the night before and I used to plan very well. That's also when I started cooking under 1 hour because I didn't want to spend hours in the kitchen after being on my feet all day.
But like now, tonight we are having Roasted Root vegetable Risotto and I've just put the veg into the oven to start roasting. By 4 they will be done and I can allow them to cool, at 5h15 I'll start the risotto and by 18h00 we can eat. It helps being at home all day.

Although the twins are driving us nuts at the moment. I can see they need more to do during the day because they are being little home wreckers. They were moving their cots around just now all over the room, they climb onto everything. I'm going to have to start making a definite effort to spend more time doing energetic things with them. It's so hard for me now though because my blog is really taking off and I am doing a lot of research and thinking of new posts but I just have to do that when they nap and spend more time with them. I actually feel like a very bad mommy working and letting them play by themselves.

Holy Cow, the kid next door sounds like she is getting murdered! I wonder what they think of the twins when they have one of their fits lol

Nicole when we cooked we would prepare dinner the night before so that we could eat together. The food service is wonderful as we all eat together at about 6, but Dylan goes to bed at 8 so we have time. I want to get him back to 7 30 ideally but then things are rushed and we have little time with him so 8 is fine for now.

Lisha you asked about working moms going home to cook...It is so difficult!! I start making supper around 17:45, buy 18:15 (during the week) K is so tired and miz that I go and bath him and df does the finishing touches to supp. by 18:45 K is asleep and then we eat.

I said to df that when K is around 2 -3 he will properly be going to sleep alot later. I will therefore start cooking at 17:30 so at least we can all eat together by 18:15 as a family and thereafter do the bedtime routine with K.

Do all of you ladies eat as a family or do your LO's eat earlier? and if yes when do you plan to change this? and does anyone else's LO go to bed as early as mine?
