Hey ladies


Everyone has been so busy chatting last week - gonna be hard to catch up!

Our holiday was absolutely lovely!!! A real dream holiday. We went with friends who have a holiday house smack on the beach. THey have staff who stay there year round, so we literally did NOTHING!!! We were waited on hand and foot and it was AWESOME!!! Emily seemed to pick up on the relaxed mood, so she was sooooooo calm and well behaved. Went to bed before 7 every night and slept through until well after 7AM as well. A really stunning, stunning house in a beautiful environment! Em got sick on WEdnesday evening, but she was good as new immediately after starting her on an antibiotic. So could hardly tell that she was sick - had ear infection, tonsilittus and sinusitus! This morning she is complaining that her face is sore??? So I am thinking sinus???

Other than that, not much from my side.

Joybaby - hope you're doing ok.

Cols - hope everything goes well with the grommetts. But, as you say - once the grometts are in, they are much better.

As for clothing and shoe sizes. Em is wearing 18-24 months or 2-3 depending on where it is from. But, I like her things loose. She is only 11.5KGS, but she is tall.She wears a size 5 shoe.

As I am typing this, my sister just sent me a msg to say that her little boy is being admitted to hospital now he had the flu last week and was not eating well. Yesterday, he started with a runny tummy as well - so now he is severely dehydrated

Jeanine - I am sooo not looking forward to the packing and unpacking!! CAn't believe its 8 more weeks then we are moving!!! Life is gonna be HECTIC!!!

I'm around - read often, but never seem to get the chance to reply (DH is hogging the internet at home for his games - so only get to log on at work)

Joybaby - sorry to hear about the job - technically speaking once the offer was made, they were not allowed to discriminate because of your pregnancy, but on the other hand, nobody wants to work in a negative environment either.
Hope you find something else soon. Hope K is getting better.

Cols - good luck with the grommets today - hope they will finally sort out those ears . And enjoy your 5 day break in PE

Kerry - love the photo of K in her car seat - Willem also still has his small seat - it's at FIL's, and when he doesn't want to sti still and eat, he has to sit in the chair (can get up as easily)

Robyn, wow, 20 weeks already!! Time flies

So JHB ladies - I saw mention somewhere of a potential meet?!? Still happening? Count me in!

Had a few hectic weeks after the move, but at least 90% is packed out and sorted now. Still have the last 4 or so boxes, but nothing in there I can’t live without for now
On top of that I spent the last two weeks living on painkillers - with toothache! Had to have the same filling done twice! Thought I was heading for a root canal , but luckily the pain just suddenly went away on Friday (would have gone back Saturday)

Now that we’ve moved, we have to drop Willem off at FIL’s (He used to pick him up - we stayed on the way to MIL’s work). Problem is, he has to be there either before 6:45 (or earlier if he eats there), or after 8:00 - and 8:00 is too late for me to get to work on time...... So now me and DH takes turns - we drop him off at 6:15, feed him, rush back home to finish up, and leave for work at 7:15.

On a positive note, Willem is sleeping MUCH better - not sure if it’s the big bed, or because he has his own room. He still wakes up around 5am, but I can live with less sleep - if it’s all in one stretch.
He still wakes up occasionally, if he has a blocked nose or something else is bothering him - but it is now maybe 1 night a week, where it used to be more like 4-5.

Willem is STILL wearing some of his 6-12 months clothing - mostly the t-shirts, and the pants that doesn’t have elastic on the bottom (they seem to be a bit longer). Other than that he wears 12-18 month clothes. I took a few 18-24 month stuff out - but all the pants are still too big, too loose around the middle, and too long. I have no idea what shoe size he is - anything between a 5 and a 7, depending on the style...
Our bathroom scale is broken, but FIL weighed him at the butcher, and he weighs 12kg now.

Willem’s talking is getting better by the day - still not quite at full sentences yet, but string 2-3 words together. Pity his favourite is “more” - More sweets, more chips, more juice - and the absolute favourite - More milo!! He calls his cousin to come play, and chases the dog away, or tells her to shush. And whenever we tell him bath time, he yells no bath, no bath (till he is in it, then he refuses to get out )

We are going to visit my parents this weekend - there is a shop there that sells nice bedding and curtains - Willem is FINALLY going to get his own, decorated, room. I’m planning to get blue bedding and curtains, and hope to get a duvet with a blue and lime green colour scheme.

Robyn - that is so cute! I still love her name. Precious!

Girls - MILs are just special... Mine does my head in everytime I see her or hear her but you know they mean well and are just "special".

Evan has to go for Grommets on Monday. His ears have not cleared in the last month and last week he started with another ear infection. Went to ENT friday and his ears are way worse than 3 weeks ago. That dispite cortizone, ABs, nose spray etc. I dont mind grommets - while his last ones were in he only had 1 ear infection and it wasnt bad. We're not telling DH family as they will say he got an ear infection because we took him to the drive in - even though he was bundled for the arctic and he already had the ear issue this will be it. Everything we do is wrong and I get running commentary on how I should be doing things. I just smile and nod and then do what I want.

We're flying to PE thursday - DH has a study trip there for 10 days so we will go down for 5 days of it. He gets back the next thurday then friday he's off to his bike rally and then possibly to India for work...

How is Jeanine? I havent seen anything from her for a while?

Robyn i know what you mean... my MIL was also looking after K till June last year when both DH and i decided to put her in creche rather...

Everything K learned was because of her... and i don't dispute that she did learn a lot there, but hell what does she think we go home and thats it nothing more gets learned?

Not to mension i got told how to bring up my child and every time i told her not to do something with K i almost always found evidence of my requests having been dsregarded.

But the reality is that if it isn't hurting Dakota then maybe its best to just bite your tongue, you are her mom and will know whats best.

We only took K away as it was affecting her... MIL was feeding K so much and things she shouldn't be having yet that k was suffering severe constipation.. and then MIL would use old fishwives remedies... and K's exema was back even though we had told MIL strictly not to bath K or put her in anything that hadn't been washed by us...

You will know when it gets to that point, my only reccommendation is look around at possible daymoms or creches and have an idea of what you can do if things get to a point that you need to take action... it will leave you with at least the comort that you have a plan should things go wrong... i found it much easier to bear with that security.

My bump is def visible!!!! but as usual I get contridicting remarks - some people say
I'm still so small for 5 months and others (like MIL ) say I'm so big and shouldn't be showing so much

I know I'm very lucky to have my MIL looking after D during the day, but it really can become abit, how should
I say - problematic sometimes, esp when she tells me how to discipline D if she's being naughty (um thanks,
I got it!) But what really irks me is that she takes the credit for absolutely everything D learns. I totally understand
that she is teaching D, but so am I!!! but I just keep quiet and smile and say nothing - I don;t
want any issues esp since she has agreed to look after M when I go back to work in Aug 2013, til she then goes to pre-school in Jan 2014

Oh no Girly i am so sorry to hear that the Job went so very very wrong! I relly thought you had reached a turning point! Geez i cant believe they withdrew the offer! Thats absolutely crazy!!! But you are right its is all for the best!

Hope Kaylee is feeling better soon! and glad to hear that you get to be home with her... heck i wish i could stop and look at the wildlife with her on the way to creche!!!

Officially half way for you now

My bump is getting harder to hide. Cos I'm a bit chubby its not a pronounced bump, but I cant zip up my hoodie anymore its too snug, and my long tops are sitting a lot shorter on my waste and irritating me!

I want to look at woolies for a pair of maternity jeans, cos edgars and mr p dont have any. But I have to wait till some cash comes in. Cant spend R300 on jeans
