As for sleepin through at night, she does when she has fed twell through the day but otherwise she is up once or twice for 50ml at a time, thats all she will take in at night

As for the droooollll, the clinic told me her ears and gums are super ichy now and thats why she sucks her fists like crazy....i used to think she was hungry and after way to many wasted bottles i realise that was not it!

She also grabs toys and brings them to her mouth and blows spit bubbles, ha ha so sweet when they start entertaining themselves!

I am extremely sleep deprived and on edge this week, i need sleep and seems so selfish to think i should be getting any. sleep has become a privilage so has washing my hair, reading the you or whatching a t.v program from start to finish!
Hope everything starts to fall in place now, we got poo so now we just need weight gain and a drinling baby.

Regarsdng solids, im going to start at 4 months sooner the better i think. Ive heard of fussy eaters if you start to late??? not sure but i hear the new thing is not to start them on rice cerial as their bowels cant handle that as well. Must start with all the yellow veggies i have to go get the table from my clinic when i decide to start....its some complicated routine with the food! SO CONFUSING!

I also took her to get a frenulem release as she had a vey bad tongue tie, and was so worried to let her go to theatre but it was very nessesary and we thought her appetite would increase as she would be able to suck better but no luck, i battle to get her to finish 4 bottles of 150ml a day.

The new combination of formula snd small neck bottles have got her drinking better then she ever has but she was not gaining weight with in the range on the isomil so i really hope this works i am exhausted lately as she has being to restless last 3 nights just comlaining and moaning not screaming she saves the screaming for 6pm-8pm thats when she is so impossible until she gets her bath and massage. She is such a diva

I think she is fussy to sleep at night lately because she wants to sleep on her tummy and i used to let her cos i have the angel care but everyone has been advising me not to let her and she sleeps like a rock if i put her on her tummy....what do you guys think regarding this?

Judes mom- I can relate Sienna screams bloody murder between 6pm-8pm and only calms if i hold her but im busy with dinner and chores ect so its so over whelming to me that she wont let DH sooth her and then he-s calling me to get her, she's screaming and Jessica plays up to in the moment and i literally want to pull my hair out every night!

I have tried bathing her ar 5pm and hopefully she would be relaxed but i regardless of what approach i take she still screaming during that time, i think its because she doesnt sleep well during the day that by 6pm she is over tired and over stimulated and there is just no making her happy until she fall asleep!

I have quickly read through all the posts and already i feel so much better i can relate to so many of them

Sienna is also not a big eater since going onto formula at 2 weeks i have tried avent bottles, pigion wide neck bottles, clicks bottles and now pigion small neck bottles and have tried nan and isomil and now lactogen. She was on The isomil because it seemed milk was not agreeing with her and she has been constipated since she went on to formula in the first place so after 3 months of not ever pooing on her own i had to give lacson to soften stools everyday and hold her legs up everyday and screaming and fighting all the way last week i went onto lactogen formulaas i dont really think it was the milk to start with and more her small appetite so now she is pooing 3 times a day by herself without my help or any lacson for the first time in her life. This is so amazing to me and i think it has made such a difference to her.

Shame hun, I am glad you are persevering with her and letting dh take her. You're right, Jude also needs mommy and they dont always understand. And even more so the breather! When Geoff gets home at night its his time with her, even if just 5 or 10minutes, and then its bathtime, feed time and bed time. But I must admit that come 5pm she's pretty miserable so dad doesnt get much smiles except weekends.

The 10PM feed should be dropped by now and in the next 1-3 months the 2am feed should fall away also! I'm looking forward to that! Twice this week K woke up an hour or 2 later for her 2am feed. Just 1 more hour and she's technically dropping it, so will see how the next couple weeks go.

Re the drooling, I read in baby sense that this is also a time where they discover their mouths, and playing with their saliva including drooling and blowing bubbles is all part of that development. I think unless they have a fever / white gums / apparently a change in stool it cant just be assumed as teething. Same about biting things its also possibly just their exploring. K puts anything and everything in her mouth. Gonna have to start using a bib for all that drool!

Re solids - I'm one of those mommies who really wants to wait until K is 6 months old before introducing them. She is still small, weighs 5kgs, and is still gaining 200grams a week on the breast so I'm not seeing a need for it yet. But paed was quick to tell me that there area number of factors that could determine a baby's need for solids and I shouldnt stick to my 6month plan 'just because'. So when I see him in December for our 4month follow up I guess we'll have to see what he advises.
Re breastfeeding later on, I'm going to have to see what the conditions are at work whether its possible to express or not. If not, we'll have to introduce formula during day time and breastfeed first morning and at night. But I wont know any of that until I have a job. She'll be 6 months old then so I feel more comfortable introducing formula then.

So we have had a few very challenging days! I dont know what is up but little K has not been herself. She screams blue murder and the tears roll out her eyes and her eyes get all swollen from the crying. I think she's got cramps because she doesnt have a fever so it cant be ear infection / teething. So been giving her appollocol (local mixture from mediplein pharmacy) and it seems to be helping. I feel so bad for her though. We were at a baby shower / braai last night and MIL was kind enough to come to our house to try settle her cos she just wouldnt stop crying. Then she went down but woke at 8:30 crying. So we came home early, gave her the meds and then she was fine. Gonna watch her today and if it gets worse will book to see the dr.

Hey moms thanx everyone for all the advice. I am just going to keep on with the avent bottle as there was a time when she took it so it's just that she refuses too.

Shes still clingy on me but daddy takes her every night when he gets home even if she screams, i only take her when the tears start rolling i know i feel bad but Jude also needs some mommy time and it gives me a breather.

Jude was also a cold milk baby wouldnt take a bottle even a room temp, and nothing happend too him. I started him too late on solids liek 6 months as my mother in law said its not right too and jude refused too eat anything, doctor called him a milkoholic. So im starting scarlett around 4 months with rice cereal. Hubby gave her a tsp yogurt the other day and she loved it. Clinic nurse said as long as she can keep her head upright she will be ready too eat.

She is also drooling alot and chews on my finger like a mad thing, there gums start itching from as early as 3 months but the teeth take a while too come, only thing scarlett has been chewing my hand from 2 months already.

Im also keen for the getogether also a bit far but im sure it will be okay.

I got it from my post natal classes at Karien Camphor. About the 22:00 bottle, if baby does not wake up for it, then you don't have to give it.

I think if you feel like starting at 3 1/2 months, there is nothing wrong! Can't see what harm it could do. Xx
