Morning ladies

Mrs SH - I also used tums2mums and Vanessa is great! Zarika's 10 weeks injections are on friday and I take her to Riana. My experience the previous time was that she is very professional and very nice with Zarika and the injections. Shame, poor Alex. I am glad it wasn't anything serious.

Zarika wasn't that lucky. She was operated on friday afternoon for the repair of a hernia on both sides. I cried so much when I had to leave her in the theatre after they gave her gas. I think the whole op was much worse for me than for her. She was released late friday evening as it wasn't a big op according to the doctors, althoug it was bad enough for me. I have been giving suppositries every 8 hours since discharge and she is really doing good. Doctor explained to me that babies don't use their muscles so often as adults and therefor it is not so sore for them. I am seeing the doctor again on friday to remove the dressing. I think she is heading for another growth spurt this week as she is cranky. The fun just never stops! But still I love her to bits!

She has now been on only formula for a week and a half and has gained 700g in 2 weeks and now weighs 4.5kg!

Have a great day everyone!

Morning Ladies,

Hi everybody. Sorry that I have not been in touch for so long, but I was on maternity leave and only got back to work today.

I had my baby boy on Saturday the 10th of July at 04.45 am. He is absolutely beautiful and weighed 3.980 kg.

I am trying to catch up on all the posts, but there is so many of them.

I will post my birth story very soon, it was really traumatic for me.

I really missed you guys and hope to chat very soon.

Wow Maureen, that's awesome! Let us know how the travelling goes, I'm sure he's going to be an angel.

Giggles - I agree with Lucy, space the daytime feeds to 3-4 hours. The night sleep will also stretch then (as in the time between feeds at night will be longer).

Lucy - that's so cool that London is doing so great. Alex is almost there - he is settling in back nicely after his growth spurt / injections.

Ronel - ai toggie man. We also had a scare, Alex has a 'hemangioom' on his right colorbone. It's a swollen almost blue mark looking thing. The nurse said to have it checked out as it was swollen and could have been a growth of some sort (big time panic stations). We took him for the sonar and had to get blood drawn so that they could do a blood count. My house dr thought it would only be a finger prick, but turned out they had to physically draw blood like they would for you and I! I couldn't handle it, mom had to go in - I was crying in the flippen hallway. Shame he was in the wars this week what with the growth spurt, his first injections and then the bloody blood drawing. Anyway, turns out it's just a 'hemangioom' which is harmless, we just have to keep an eye on it. I hope yours turns out to be similar.

I'm so glad Zarika is thriving on formula. It is definitely the best decision for you two. Way to go Mommy!!

Those who used Tums2Mums - I got my money 2 weeks ago. Vanessa was amazing and I highly recommend her services. I'm also getting a nice sum from SARS...already spending it in my head! DH wants it to go into the bond for a rainy day, Mommy wants to buy couches for our sunroom. I wonder who will win this one...will I be sensible or impulsive...haha!

Nelria - how's it all going? I forget, how old is Leah now? Is she being an angel to Xen? It must be so nice to see sibling love grow.

Have a fantastic weekend ladies!!

Hi Ladies,

I have fantastic news. Went to the clinic this morning. Jamie is weighing 6.6 kilograms and is 61 centimetres. The nurse gave us the okay to start rice cereal. So I did and he loved it, couldn't get enough. He didn't even push it out of his mouth or anything. He is now soundly a sleep on the couch.

I will feed him at 9.30 and 17.30 cereal from now on. She said after 4 months I can subsitute the 17.30 feed with real food. SO cool, can't wait. My little man is doing so good.

We are leaving for Cape Town on Friday morning, and I can't wait. This will be the first time my husbands family meet little Jamie. Wish me luck for my mother in law.

M

Hey guys Im so pleased with London. We have been doing the same routine for 2 weeks now and finally he is doing it beautifully!

07:00AM Bottle
11:00AM Bottle
15:00PM Bottle
18:30PM Bath
19:00PM Bottle
20:00PM Sleep (7 hours)
03:00AM Bottle
03:30AM Sleep (3.5 hours)

Yeah!!!

Giggles I think the idea is for the baby to get all or most of its nutrition during the day and feeds should be spaced between 3-4 hours during the day and not more than 4 hours. Or the baby will want to continue feeding at night. Since London has been following a strict 4 hr schedule he has lost his 11pm feed and now only wakes up once at 3am and that is after a 7 hour sleep.

The next step will be introducing solids around 4-5 months and then he should be doing a 7pm-7am sleep with no waking... I hope. The theory here again is that then he will have enough nutrition from formula and solids to let him sleep through. They say that once a baby reaches 7kg, there is no reason they can't sleep through with no night waking. Check Babysense. Makes sense to me, so Im carrying on in hopes it all works out.

Hi Ronel,

Shame hope its not a hernia.

Glad your little one is taking the formula with no problems, my little girl refuses the bottle, I have no more tricks left to try..

Good luck with the appointments.
