Alex - hope the block feeding works. Caitlin feeds every 3-4 hours so I don't really think block feeding will work for me. I got so fed up with spraying Caitlin yesterday and her choking that I expressed 130ml while she was sleeping and then when DH came home he gave her the bottle and since then have been feeding her 5min on each breast and then swopping again if she is still hungry and so far my boobies are full but don't spray her :) yippee!!! and she seems to be more 'settled' when feeding.

Mrs SH - yayh for having a baby free outing :) sometimes all you need is a little break. and when you see them again you just want to cuddle them to within an inch of their life :)

Brrr...getting cold here again. Whooo, can't wait for Friday...flying to CTN!!!

Lucy - my routine is 4-hourly and looks roughly like this:

6pm bath and feed last boob around 7pm
8pm (latest) asleep
feed on demand, usually lasts until anything bt 12 and 2
feed on demand, usually lasts until anything bt 5 and 7
then 4 hourly from whenever he wakes up
reset the schedule at 6pm - if that means an extra/cluster feed in the afternoon, all good, he usually lasts longer at night then.

I'm trying to do the 6pm, 2am, 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm with him, and it's been going well like that for 3 days now, but it just depends on when he wakes in the morning.

Sleep wise - I'm trying to make him sleep for 1 hour after the 6am feed, 2hours somewhere after the 10am feed and then 1 hour after the 2pm feed. Still working on it though!

Last thing about routine though - it's good to introduce a routine but apparently not essential or rigorous following until baby reaches 5 months. Routine is more for parent at this stage, baby only understands from then. So don't be too hard on yourself just yet!!

Re weight loss, I've lost 12kgs and fit into pre-preggy jeans albeit with a bit of a mushroom top...the flab on the stomach is taking a bit longer to go. I still have 4kgs to go until pre-preggers weight. I've started going to gym (well twice...) and take lots and lots of walks. And hoping breastfeeding works it's magic.

Maureen - a friend swears by that blood type diet. What blood group are you? I'm keen to do that too as it's not that hectic diet.

So does anyone have an answer on freezer bags / milk freezing containers? I'm not sure whether it's safe to use ziplock bags (BPA??) or whether it's ok to use, but not to reheat in water???

Alex - jip, apparently you can't overfeed by breastfeeding as they do level out from 6 months onwards.

I went out to bday at friends house last night whilst DH baby sat. It was awesome, I expressed a bottle for 2am feed so had some wine and then champers (which is apparently ok whilst b/f). Went home at 11pm though and woke up at 5 with engorged breasts!! so feeling a bit tired today!

hi all!

Well done for losing the weight ladies! I gained a ridiculous 18kgs during pregnancy- i know, its disgusting! I've lost 10kgs and am impatiently waiting for the 8kgs to fall off, i doubt its gonna happen without working out tho. I'm not sure if its the excess weight or the pregnancy but my ass is bigger! I'm really hoping its the former.

Jane- well done to Caitlin! Those drops sounds like its good to have just in case. :)

block feeding is where u only feed from one breast for a certain amount of time and then only feed from the other breast for a certain amount of time. So how i'm doing it is- everytime Mateo wants to eat within 3 hours i'll only put him to my left breast, and then for the next 3 hours i'll only use my right breast regardless of how many times he feeds. They recommend you start with a two hour block for each breast and extend it if the let down is still too fast. I've only done it for the past few days so i cant say if its definitely working yet but i am feeling less full and that does help. I dunno if i'm making sense, lack of sleep is catching up with me :)

Mrs sh- our boys are practically the same size! Mateo weighs 4.96kgs, is 58cms tall and has a head circumference of 39cms. I was worried that he is gaining weight too quickly but was assured that some babies gain alot in the first 6 months and thereafter it evens out.

I still havent noticed any kind of routine with Mateo and i've been recording everything for the past 3 weeks! The one thing that i thought i was certain about was that he is mostly awake during the day but sleeps 2-3 hours at night but the last two nights he has been waking every single bloody hour! He likes to throw me curveball when i get too comfortable.

Well done with the weight. Im 1kg heavier and also need to loose more. I only eat twice a day though (toast for lunch and half supper) - appetite not 100% yet. No exercise :(

Tummy time - was told its very important because its the foundation for crawling. Connor only does roughly 4 minutes each day. Other times hes also on my chest with head up. Going to make more of an effort though because its because Im lazy and i know he isnt fond of it.

Jane - no probs. Was thinking of getting Rescue tabs because I use them to sleep and for studying and exams.

Eve - sorry it is MAGEN for colic, nausea & travel sickness. I got the name from the Natura pamphlet for babies.

Maureen - I don't have a scale to see my weight, but I am back in my pre preggie jeans and have a bit of tummy still, but I am happy to have a bit of excess weight while breast feeding cos I tend to lose weight in my face and look terrible when that happens :)

Wow ladies, we are cooking again on Moomie.

Jamie has most of his bottles during the day, his last bottle is at about 8 pm. Because then he lies on top of mommies chest while she watches tv, and then when I know he is really in dream world I put him down. Ladies Jamie is sitting in his pram. He doesn't like not being able to see, and seeing that he is really strong, I put the back up of the pram. He doesn't fall forward or sideways, so proud of my little man.

One thing of a premature baby, is the Paed bills. Ladies I have to take Jamie every 4 weeks to the Paed, for check ups. And at R460.00 ago, really expensive. At least he is a trooper.

Ladies, what are you all doing about your weight? I am a kilogram under my pre-pregnancy weight, I am really happy but I need to loose more. The specialist needs me to loose at least another 10 before I see him in October. So now I have the eat right for your blood type book, has anyone used it?

I am going to start on Monday, as I can't do it over this weekend. Friends with their baby are coming over tomorrow, he is 10 days younger than Jamie.

Have a great weekend ladies.

Oh, another question: I don't do tummy time as much with Jamie, only tummy time I do is when he is on my chest, is this bad? His neck is really strong and he keeps his own head up now. Do I still have to do tummy time?
