So sorry to hear about the accident Beansmom, but you can't blame yourself - that's why they call it an accident. I hope you had a good night's rest and are feeling a little better.

On that note, we've had a great 2 night - Katie's only woken up twice. Now let me explain why that's good...
Remember about a month ago doc said to vasbyt as she's waking because of dreams. Well, we did that and 3 weeks later she was still no better. We thought that things couldn't get worse. Anyhow, she was due to start crèche yesterday, 2 weeks ago, so we sent her and she came home happy and tired YAY! Mom and dad got a night or two of good rest that first week of crèche. That Friday, while hubby was bathing her he calls me in to see these spots on her. We both put it down to a heat rash or something minor as there were less than 10 spots on her. Saturday we awake to find spots EVERYWHERE! We go to the paed who says it’s something called Coxsackie and will pass on its own. Sunday she's worse - not eating, not sleeping, but tired, miserable, snotty nose - you name it, she's got it. We rush to the hospital where the doctor says that it's measles. Which, BTW, hubby has never had so he panics too. They draw blood from her arm and send it away saying it will be ready in 8 hours... Next morning back to the paed to say the other doc has said it's measles, but can we please get some meds as her nose is bad and she's now coughing. No eating, runs, miserable - like I'd said before. He gives us a prescription for us to find out that the meds he's given can't safely be administered to a child under 3!!!
24 hours later, we get the blood work back and it's negative for Coxsackie and inconclusive for measles. So we give up - who cares what she's got as long as she's is comfortable as she recovers, right? Mom and dad however haven't slept since Saturday night - well not more than an hour at a time!!
Tuesday, I go for a second opinion with a friend's GP and he says - German measles, Coxsackie and then Measles...he's just as confused as us, but is honest and we have more blood work done. My baby had such a bruise on her arm. These tests eventually come back negative for measles and positive for Coxsackie. We breathe a sigh of relief as we now know what she has, but, as the secondary ear infection and cough slowly subside, we've realised that it's possible to contract this again...and we still have to battle measles, amongst other contagious diseases

Katie started crèche again on Monday and is loving it. She's definitely got her appetite back as she ate 2 helpings about the size of a stage 1 purity jar for dinner and then had 200ml of milk. She's also only been up twice a night since being back at crèche thankfully!

As most people assume that she could only have contracted this from crèche, I've asked around. No one else at crèche has contracted this yet and the incubation period is usually around 7 days and she was showing symptoms on the 5th day. I guess someone has to be patient zero who picks it up in the air...

On a positive note, she's rolling and sitting like a champ. She kept Dad and I well entertained over the weekend with her tricks - like her new fav...shaking her head and her body like she's saying no. I think that comes from all the meds and it's the only way she can pull her head or mouth away from the syringe lol.

And, on a personal note, only 3 weeks left of work

Shame beansmom that sounds like a terribly traumatic experience. Glad she is doing ok and no serious damage done. Please don't blame yourself, these things seriously do happen.

Hope you get some good rest tonight. Tayla will be her usual self in no time... they are strong, resilliant little things and heal so darn quickly.

Lia is also doing the scooting backwards thing now - ironic thing is she does it when trying to go forward to reach something and then freaks out because she is going backward. She really seems more keen on getting to move and tries different ways etc so perhaps she will get crawling soon.

Can you believe it's almost Christmas. Where has the year gone. Our babies are getting so big and will be crawling/ walking and talking before we can wipe our eyes out.

I'm feeling so old it's ridiculous.

Morning Ladies... Everyone seems to be very busy!!

Well - my update is I'm glad yesterday is over!!! The thing I've been dreading for the last week and a half finally happened... Tayla wriggled out of my arms and fell face first onto the tiles! (from hip height while i was standing!!!) I was hysterical as I saw my little pudding laying splat on the tiles and not moving at first! And naturally the worst thoughts pop into your mind... then thankfully she starting screaming... I have never been that happy to hear her scream - and did she scream. Still hysterical I screamed for You You who came running - and put her first aid course to good use...
Anyway - long story short - ended up in the ER just to make 100% sure that nothing was broken, and no concussion... she has a terrible bruise and swelling over her eyebrow and on her cheek under her eye... and the poor little eye can't open properly cos of the swelling! But other than that she is perfectly fine! Thank Goodness!!!!!!
I felt terrible for not holding on tight enough and battled to sleep all last night with terrible thoughts rolling through my mind! So today I'm dead on my feet - but just grateful that my little angel is ok!

Hi all you ladies

Wow, our thread has been VERY quiet... How are all of you doing?

Beansmom and Pinky, Emily's also been miserable. And has reverted back to waking up a gazillion times at night. I've also been putting it down to teething. For the last three months I've been putting it down to teething I keep thinking what Nicky said once: "Vasbyt!" All I can say is thank heavens for Lettie. Poor woman's been trying to get our wannabe cat to sleep for about an hour now.

Jacadebra, loved the image you painted of Lia on all fours with her bum in the air. Here we're still working on rolling over to the left. And sleeping.

Congrats Bronz on passing your exam and your drivers! Woohoo. You must be pretty chuffed with yourself! Re the amount of food Lia takes in - with mashed stuff it can be anywhere from 2 teaspoons to 1/4 of a cup! Some days she is not up for it other days she is. This evening I gave her cubes of butternut to feed herself and she had LOADS of it - straight into the mouth and chew and swallow. I must make a video, it was really impressive! lol I always make a lot when she has to feed herself because chances are lots will end up on the floor lol. With my son it took a good month or two before he was getting in decent amount BUT once he started, geez, he would polish off a full plate of food feeding himself - wide variety, every time. Still has a good appetite today. 7 Exams.. I don't know how you manage. Eep.

Scribbling - a brunch would have been nice but we have a family function and a birthday lunch to go to - this weekend is going to be way too busy. Hope Emily's tum is feeling a bit better by now.
I actually did the water and cloth wipes for a bit but got lazy washing them and reverted back to wipes. I find that the johnson's wipes are the most mild. Try find something unscented/ unfragranced if it irritates.

Hey MrsDD - hope you get it sorted. My girl is 7m old and still wakes up around 2am lol. It's amazing though how they get into a perfect routine and then wham it goes out the window. Hope it gets sorted soon.

LOL @ hubby wanting to take Itouch away Claudia... I go insane without my internet. Even if I just get 5 min's a day I need my fix lol.

Beansmom - sorry Tayla has been so miserable, I hope it passes soon.

We actually managed some tummy time today.. yay. Lia gets very annoyed that she can't move. Bum in the air, one handed push up... goes in a bit of a circle but just can't go forward yet. She actually lets me prop her up on all fours and then stares at me for a while until she's bored of that position then she plops back on her belly.

Ok, let me get off her and clean up and get my son into bed (dad & him are building a puzzle lol)
