@pinky:
James will be 6m on Saturday. He is on quite a strict schedule. He wakes between 6/7am and gets bfed. Awake for 90min then a 40 min nap. When he wakes up he gets two pots of either pears, apples, bananas or whatever. A pot is about 60ml. 90min after last wake up he gets bfed and then another 40min nap. Then awake for 2 hrs. 2 hrs after prev bfed he gets 1 pot carb, 1 pot veg and 1 pot protein (adding protein this weekend). He goes back to sleep 2 hours after last wake up for 40min nap. On wake up he gets a bfeed and again naps for 40 min 2hrs after prev wake up. On waking he gets 6-8 tsp rice cereal w bmilk and 1 tsp prunes. 90mins later he gets bfed, then bath, then 150ml expressed bmilk. Then bed til (usually!) morning.

So if he wakes at 6.30 out day looks like this:
6.30 wake a bfeed
8.00 nap
8.45 wake and breakfast (2x fruit)
10.15 bfeed
10.45 nap
11.30 wake
12.15 lunch (3x carb, veg, protein)
1.30 sleep
2.15 wake and bfeed
4.15 nap
5.00 wake and cereal
6.30 bfeed, bath and bottle
7.15 bed

I'd prefer longer naps but James doesn't seem interested! In a few weeks we'll replace a fruit with the cereal in the morning and give him the same for dinner as lunch plus we'll add fruit and a yoghurt at around 3pm.

James is a big boy (10kg) though and eats like a machine.

Nelria, that's interesting research on the feeding. Do you have any idea who did it? I'd be interested to read the whole thing, even though it's too late for Emily now!

Bundle, I sent you a pic of the beach at Paternoster so you can see for yourself.

Pinky, our thread has been very quiet. I guess with everyone getting back to work it's been a bit difficult to post. I'm sure Karla will start gaining weight soon now that she's on solids. But unless she's sickly or really really small, don't worry too much. Emily's a real little cookie monster. At the moment she has 8 dry teaspoons of porridge in the morning (then I add water), and at night she's on two ice cubes of either carrot or butternut. During the day I will give her a "snack", which is at this point carrot or butternut "chips", like French fries. And then she gets her bottles during the day (about 5 or 6 of 150ml of formula) and then a tiny little waste-of-time pretend-pretend breastfeed first thing in the morning :) Does that help you at all? Her sleeping varies but she usually sleeps from about 7.30pm until 7am, with three sleeps during the day - two in the morning (one long 1.5hrs, one short 45mins) and one in the afternoon, although I'm trying to introduce another short one in the late afternoon, which doesn't always work, but it all depends on how much she's already slept. I try to limit her awake-time to two hours.

Hi all you ladies

Wow, but our thread is quiet!! How are you all doing?

We are doing fine, Karla is eating so much, and enjoying all the new food mommy makes her... sometimes she needs a bit of encouragement, but I try to keep it interesting. The Annabel Karmel book is awesome!

How is it going with all the eating babas?

It seems like Karla is a tiny baby, as she weighs 7,1 Kg's and she is already over 6 months...

How much do you ladies think a 6 month old should eat? more or less? I hope she eats enough, looks like it!

How does your babas sleep in the day? Karla gets her days when she sleeps one long nap in the morning and shorter naps the rest of the day, and then other days she only has like 4 35 minute naps... then by bath time she is exhausted...

Well have a good day ladies!

morning all u lovely ladies - i mostly read sometimes post but my june thread is running almost dead so i thought to maybe fall in here and make new friends again?

Xen is 4.5 mnths weigh 7kg and is 62cm tall born 9 june

he is on solids and anything and everything goes really as i am a 2nd time mum so quite relaxed re food

interestinglu he went for vacines(late due to illness) and my suster showed me new research stating between 4-6mnths babies produce cells in their body to receive food and whatever u feed them will be taken and filed as "save" in their bodies causig them to build up resistance agains all allergies - so she advices to let them eat everything i this period including meats, yoghurts and even peanut butter - anyhoe just thought it interesting :)

as for sleep mmmmmmm xen still in my bed(not my choice) but we dont have room for him now so still in ours and he is still on boob so its just easier than fighting with him and waking the world

we have all been super sick of late man every snotty nose lea has xen gets i just wish it would rain already to wash all these germs away

I am in midst of exams so xen is in cresch for 4 wks which sucks but teacher is full of praise and loving him so not to bad all together

will post some picks when have more time just wanted to say hello and re-introduce myself

ladies? what are these shoots/casts u going to?

graeme - awsome on the sitting wow too cool

oh and someone asked re teething biscuits - the oli organic ones are great its made of some type of biscuits that melts down into syrup conssitency so when lo sucks/chew it it melts so no choking whereas the purity one tends to break into chunky bits and dissapear down throat causing nervebreaking gagging moments :)

Hi Ladies

So Luke is still loving his daycare, but unfortunetly he has caught a cold. My poor boy is sickies and its horrible as he is not his happy self, can't wait till he is over it. Took him to the paed and am giving him cough syrup, nose spray and eye drops. His eyes and nose are much better now just to get the cough to go away. The first few nights were not nice as he kept on waking as he couldn't breathe properly. Now atleast he is not so congested so sleeps better.

His appetite has also gone down, he sometimes refuses to eat his food and doesn't drink alot of milk either, sometimes only 100ml at a go. Am so hoping that after this weekend he will be back to his usual happy self.

Oh and I think he is weaning himself off me as he doesn't want boob anymore, sucks for like a minute and then stops, it may be because he is sick, but I rekon the bottle is easier for him. Atleast I managed to feed exclusively for 6months.

Being back at work is not that bad, I think beacause I know he is happy at daycare that makes it easier.

You ladies are so adventurous with feeding your babies, I haven't started Luke with meat...after reading all your posts I think I should try soon all I have given him is apple, butternut, squash and sweet potato which we make, puree and freeze in portions.

beansmom - congrats on your little superstar with her castings!

ScribblingAl - the place you stayed in partenoster, was it close to the beach, I would want to be able to walk to the beach with Luke, was the beach nice?

Beansmom, let the veggie advise ;)
Most of the meat stuff is only included from second-stage weaning, which AK puts at between seven and nine months. She reckons babies often reject red meats because of their chewy texture. Her chicken livers recipe for this stage is: chop two chicken livers and cook in 120ml stock with a chopped leek (white part only) and 25g chopped mushrooms, and 50g chopped carrots. Boil a potato until tender and mash with a knob of butter and half a tablespoon of milk. Puree the liver and veggies and mix with the potato. Yummy yum yum. Claudia_B, maybe this is your turning point in terms of liver loving :woohoo: PS it is freezable so you can make a whole lot...
