Oh Meags shame. Just remember all kids are not the same. But you said he is 16 months? That's still very small. Well at least you don't have to watch him full time :-)

I feel so bad...the more I am around him, the more I feel like I dont want kids :( and I LOVE kids but he makes me glad I dont have any which is so not like me at all!!

I dont think it's an attention thing as he gets one on one attention ALL day and we play and he is spoilt and out of no where he just bites while you are playing...

He didnt bite today...what a miracle! But he just seems like a spoilt little boy and I dont like that :(

Feetjie, I left a message on your post "HELLLOOOO" about Tuesday...I'm working all day :(

I must be honest here and say that my kids have never ever bitten me or slapped me or kicked me or been violent towards me at all. Then I watch super nanny or who rules the roost or one of the 10 similar shows on BBC and I am flabbergasted and disgusted with those kids and their behaviour. I can not phatom or understand how parents can let their kids just "go" like that. Where is the respect and discipline?

I thought I was in this boat alone

My LO also bites and punches, she has my face and refuses to cut her nails, I only get a chance to cut her finger nails when she is asleep.

Last night she was in a fighting mood and punched me so hard I had to hold back tears. Then she started screaming , nothing I did calmed her down. I tried to comfort her but she kept on screaming and punching so I took her to her room and put her in her cot and gave her her bottle which she had thrown at me earlier, I left the room and closed the door. She screamed until she called me mommy about three times and also called me by my name so I went in and took her out of the cot and put her on the couch where she happily sat and played with her teddiesw

 I think I will slap the teacher if she makes my girl bite on a chilly  but that's just me - the softie that I am.

My son's pre-school make them bite onto chillies if they bite or swear. Needless to say, the kids there doesn't bite. One of my sons little playmates swears like a trooper, and Armand started swearing as well. Nothing I did helped. He had to bite onto a chillie once at school. He doesn't swear at all anymore, not at home .

It's definitely a phase, both of mine did it at some point and it passed.
I did smack a couple of times but agree it sends the wrong message.
It's usually an attention thing, so by removing the attention they realise it's not an effective way of getting any. Say 'No' firmly, then put them down and walk away.Good luck
