Hi

I had twins 10 weeks ago and before there birth I decided to use two camping cots cause I only had one wooden cot and decided not to spend money on a cot again with the camp cot I can take with everywhere and my mom bought them for me as my a gift

BUT

When my lg was born I was in a car accident with her when she was 3 months old and hurt my back I actually went for a Rhisotimy in my back 2 years ago with the twin pregnancy I was in hospital for 3 days in traction for my back

So a week ago I remembered that the camp cot is very low and my back wasn't going to make it so I have spent double the money now on cots, I had to buy a wooden cot well still looking cause I need a compactum as well so Natsie if you have a matching compactum I might take it of your hands

So Camp cot vs Wooden I will say wooden for your back if you do have back problems already

Congrats on the new edition to the family
;)

I also have both and prefer the wooden cot because you don't have to bend so low (ouch my back!!) plus the wooden cot has a proper matras compared to the harder base of the camp cot.

Emma is however now hitting her head on the side of the cot a few times, because at night she sits up in her cot, falls asleep while sitting and then bangs her head on the side - poor thing!! But I think she is almost over this now... it's just a phase I think.

I have both and prefer my wooden. The adjustable base and drop side have been great, plus its sturdier. My super ricj aunt bought me an all the frills campcot with basinette etc.. wasnt even 3 months old and he had managed to pull the mobile thing down (still trying to figure this one out??) I also think the wooden cot lends itself to longer use for hygene reasons. My parents got mine new, but it will go to my sister when they have kids (just sand down and repaint:))
I also like the fact that its higher off the ground.
If I could only have one though I would get a campcot because of its moveability..

Hi

i prefer a wooden cot for many reasons, one of them being the adjustable base. camp cots if you luck have 2 levels, but the amazing cot i purchased has 3. the camp cot base is so close to the floor do you really want baby so close to the floor with the dust and things that get into the mesh and net.

i think that a wooden cot is also more hygienic because u can wipe it down, where as the fabric in a camp cot is heaven for germs to breed.

i would use a camp cot for baby to play in but not to sleep in.

just for reference i purchased from a company called podo baby in cape town and they are most helpful and their prices are great, they really gave me a few things to think about before i purchased.

hope this helps

I love my baby's wooden cot. I feel that the camp cots are too close to the ground and will be cold in winter and are not as stable as a wooden cot. My cot has one drop down side and 3 heights. I'm going to buy a cheap camp cot for when we go out/away but in my opinion that is what they're meant for, temporary sleep arrangements.
