hi ladies can I boast please about William - he's been on solids for a couple of weeks now and had carrot yesterday for first time - he gobbled it all up and LOVES his food!! what a little champion, thank you God that I got the easiest most chilled baby in the world, he actually LAUGHS during feeding time which apparently shows he is really enjoying it! but remember, he's 7 months now and i only started him at 6.5 months so Schatsie, give arno some time he'll get there - sorry re bump on head OMG i would've been traumatised!!!! but of course these things happen shame poor little one

Cath, William is so cute! Thanks, I feel better now regarding the formula....So far I am only giving her cereal in the mornings.....next week I'll start with cereal at night and then once she's settled in with the porridge I will give her veg for lunch.

Schatsie, she was attacked by a mozzie last night...she has 4 more bite marks on her face and neck...poor nunu...that's after putting stuff on her face and putting a mozzie machine on...guess I will have to move the net from her bedroom to ours....
They say all kids start eating at their own time...maybe Arno is just not ready yet...or try baby led weaning...

Hi all

Libra, I can imagine u must b very sad to have to go back to work now, but you're very lucky to have had 6 months - I only had 3 and only 2 and a half of that was with my LB being around. :(

I see Meagan has a little read spot on her forehead - it reminds me of what happened to Arno the other day: the nanny slipped on the wet floor he left from his bath and fell with him. Luckily she didn't drop him, but he bumped his head against hers and had a HUGE blue bruise on his head for about a week. Shame, she felt SO awful, my husband said she actually cried and she smsed me afterwards to apologise (I wasn't home by the time she went home). I told her it was ok, accidents like that can happen to anyone, but gee, I was also so upset the whole evening because it was clearly sore.

Arno is 5 and a half months now and we are trying to give him food, but it's been a bit of a struggle so far. We tried rice cereal but he wasn't interested at all, then we tried butternut and carrots, but he didn't want to eat that at all. Then we went back to the cereal this week and he has finished it for the last 2 days, BUT he screams every time he has to eat! I told the nanny that if he screams like that again today she must rather leave it for a few more weeks. After all, he's not 6 months yet, so there really is no reason to worry that he doesn't want to eat yet.

Otherwise he is SO cute and really gives us SO much joy!!

hi Libra! Megan is too cute for words! Those teeth! HOw old is she now? Basically re the formula, ignore those measurements. William is 7 months old now and up til when he started solids some weeks back he was taking between 150ml and 180 ml (max) each feed every 3 hours. my paed told me that the guidelines on the nan and all formula products are way out and your baby will take as much as he/she needs and as long as they're putting on weight it's cool! So don't worry about the amounts! Good you've started solids as wanting food more often is one of the signs apparently. William only did rice cereal for a week (he got v constipated poor thing) then we started him on fruit (pear puree) then sweet potatoo (which he has LOVED) and this week we've added banana as an afternoon snack and also carrot as of today! he is loving his food but apparently if bottlefed they still get their main nutrients from the bottle! re your dh understand you must be upset, try and pin him down cause it's soo important to get time together as you know and maybe he just doesn't realise? good luck!!! Do you have arrangements for when you go back to work? I found going back to work fine, going home to little one just gives an added extra niceness and focus to the day! :)

It is so nice to hear from everyone again. I have been reading the posts everyday but just haven't come so far as to post myself.

I started Megan on rice cereal Saturday. I didn't want to start so early, but she's been waking up every 2 hours for a feed lately and I can tell each time that she is hungry. I just don't think she drinks enough milk during the day and so at night time she is hungry. I really battle to get her to drink the amount of milk she needs in a day. She is on Nan 1 and should drink about 5 200ml feeds a day. She only drinks about 120ml per feed (if I'm lucky) and that is usually over an hour period. Sometimes she will surprise me and have 150ml, but never more than that. I waste so much formula as I make 150ml bottles at a time. Some feeds she only has 60ml...but then I also have to add that she has more than 5 bottles a day, but even then she doesn't have enough milk.

I am starting work again in October, my heart is so sore... I really do not want to leave my lg, it feels like this is my life now. Luckily she will go to my mom until she is a year old, so that makes me feel so much better. I didn't want to drop her of with strangers and she can also not sit properly or crawl yet, so the thought of her just laying in a cot the whole day does not do it for me. I'm so glad my mom resigned and that she's at home now!!! I cannot believe my maternity leave is almost over. I was away from work for 6 months...it feels like forever!!

I am so angry at my DH, he has hardly taken any leave during my ML. He keeps on making promises to take off and then when it comes to it he cancels it because he is too busy at work. Some nights he only gets home at 6 or 7 and then he leaves for work most mornings at 6 (some mornings at 5) We hardly get time for each other now and I'm really worried that once I go back to work we will not have any time for each other (other than the time in the car on the way to work) To make it all worst his brother is coming to stay by us for a few months! His brother wanted to come this week already but I said I wanted to spend my last week with Megan alone (with DH off course - that's if he takes leave) I don't actually want his brother to come stay with us at all (though we do get along well) but I guess I don't really have much of a say in the matter at all. Previously I wouldn't have minded but not now with having our LG.

Sorry...I am just feeling very sorry for myself today...

Hope it's still going well with all of you...
