hi ladies

Just wanted to pop in & say hello to everyone! I hope all the pregnancies are going well and those that have found out the sexes are happy with their little gifts on the way.

I'm also going to go for VBAC this time round - C-sec will be a last resort! And I agree purely because the recovery time is so much quicker!

How is tick bite fever treated?
Some forms of tick bite fever are fairly mild and self-limiting – people may get better on their own without specific treatment. This can take up to two weeks however, and treatment with an antibiotic can shorten the duration of symptoms and reduce the chance of a serious side-effect. In severe cases, antibiotic therapy is more important, and can be life saving. The antibiotic doxycycline is the preferred agent for treating tick bite fever. Some people are not able to take doxcycline, in which case chloramphenicol, or sometimes ciprofloxacin, may be used instead.
Experience with using ciprofloxacin is more limited than with doxycycline or chloramphenicol. In addition, the use of antibiotics like clarithromycin and azithromycin for treating tick bite fever is being studied. These agents may be especially useful for treating pregnant women with tick bite fever.

Hi EmsMom

ok here are a few links for your hubby to read:

Lucy - did you speak to your gynae after you were prescribed the Klacid? you can always call the gynae to ask their opinion on it. But here are some links for you to read:

archive.samj.org.za/1987%20VOL%20LXXI%20...%20K.A.%20Margol.pdf

remember when you google, dont only look at risks of the antibiotics...look at the risks of NOT taking the antibiotics too!

Thanks Meags and Emsmom! I made the mistake of googling Klacid and pregnancy ....... not good!! I have phoned my friend in Ireland who works for the makers of Klacid and she is trying to get me info. It seems in 1st trimester there is an increased risk of MC nothing reported for 2nd trimester. The rates of major and minor malformation seem similar to the general population. What to do?

Lucy, I'm so sorry to hear, you must be so scared, but I'm sure Seb will be 100%. Rest lots now and let us know how you go.

Shame Lucy please dont stress. the fever will do more harm for Seb than the antibiotics so best to take the treatment and get better.

Congrats on the little boy Driekie!! Have you thought of names??

Rakker - that is a big bump for 10 weeks! how exciting!!!! I think it's great to show early :) get to enjoy the bump for just that bit longer :) and your son is soooo cute!!

Joli - did you email your boss??
as for DH wanting to support - he actually feels a little threatened that my mom will take over his roll as father!! I asked if he would mind my mom being there (in USA) for the birth and afterwards and he wasnt very impressed...but I said since he wont be taking paternity leave once baby is born, it would be nice for me to have support from someone! He is saving his paternity leave for later (no idea why...)

EmsMom - that is very exciting about the VBAC!! Please ask ANY questions you have :) And if you need a c-section, thats fine too! They are there for a reason.
but yes - recovery is much much quicker. you can even drive the same day if you really needed to.

So I have applied for my USA visa!! Have to go for an interview at the consulate next week Thursday...eek!!

Saw the chiropractor. ok I have to admit - bizarre!!! I was expecting some clicking of the spine, bit of massage here and there. none of that!! she did a lot of stuff that seems 'spiritual' and is trying to 're-tune' my body?! well - if it works, I'll be happy!
