Thanks for the suggestion I'll get some latex teats and try again this weekend. I have my own practice so will go back when I want to and see a few patients a week it will never be full time, as I want to be home. Its just for some stimulation for me:) kitty I've always wanted 4 though I think I may pass out from sleep deprivation. We want another baby when Aaqil is 2 inshaAllah (God willing). What are the0 ages of your kids kitty?

Suhaila, i remember reading somewhere that if your baby struggles to latch on the bottle they may do better wwith a bottle with the old fashioned latex teats (the brownish ones). Maybe give that a try?

I'm not a stay at home mum but i was lucky enough to get six months maternity leave so i only go back to work at the end of May- which is going to be really tough! Are you back at work already Suhaila? Kitty, wow, i'm sure that many kids keeps you very busy!

Yes im a stay at home mommy and i love it was working before and since my first child i tayed at home and is already 12 years and 4 kiddies later. But i love being with my kiddies.

@Google, Aaqil came with, he is only breastfed so no choice there:) trying to get him to take a bottle with expressed milk so hubby and I can go out alone but he chews the teat and gags, and gives me a look. So no joy there! Anybody have any suggestions?

Lina, I would not stress, that sounds about right. Many health professionals warn not to follow the amount on the tin since thats just the formula companies trying to get you to use more. My 11 week old drinks different amounts at different times of the day but usually about 150Ml.
Gml, the holiday was great, just a mission as it felt like we had to pack half the house for one tiny baby... Pram, carry cot, steriliser etc. I was very nervous about flying but she slept most of the way.

Lina- don't worry about it. Those are just guidelines. As long as your baby is gaining weight it should be ok. I was also stressed because Lesego was so small. If he leaves about 30mls and each spoon measure is for 25mls I suggest you decrease the feed by 25mls. My paed said if he finishes his bottle and is still irritable afterwarspds to give him 25mls. That should indicate whether he's getting enough or not.

Lesego is 12weeks next week and takes 125mls without the breast and 100mls if I breastfeed him.

Just one question on feeds (Bottle) did any of you notice any change in feed patterns at around the 12 week mark? Riley has always been like clock work. He goes 4 hours during the day, and then after his evening bottle (around 8pm / 9pm or there abouts) he goes for about 5 ½ hours to 6 hours. But the last few days, he is totally erratic. Some feeds he goes 3 hours, then the next he'll go 4 ½ hours. Its very strange, because he has always been incredibly consistent with his bottles. From tiny when I first put him on formula.

Then, another question for all those who have their little one on formula.

How accurate is your tin instructions - to what your baby actually drinks?

Riley is growing really nicely. Probably weighing in between 5.8kg's and 6kg's and around 63cm's long BUT he is still drinking - what my formula tin (S26-LF) is telling me should be for baby's of 4kg's and between 6-8weeks age.

According to the tin he should be drinking 250mls - he barely finished 150mls. He usually leaves around 30mls or so. I'm not too stressed because he is growing nicely and putting on weight as he should. Does anyone elses' babies seem to have a different patterns?
