Bilingual kids

I am Tsonga and DH Ndebele,LG speaks Tsonga but responds to Ndebele even when she won't say a word.took her to an Afrikaans creche and now she calls me Tannie

My kids are English & Afrikaans. I speak english to them, their dad afrikaans and they swop between the two very easily.
They both go to Afrikaans preschools as I want them to go to Afrikaans primary schools.

Hi, any of you speak more than one language to your LO??
I always speak english. My DH is french but because of his long work hours he always spoke english to 1st LG. At 3yrs, she understood french but would never spreak it. She started at the french school in bilingual section but would still never spreak french and would say to me ' mama, i'm not french, i'm english!!'
Well all thats changed and since last year we're in hong kong. She still goes to the french school but in french stream. Her french is perfect and she doesn't mind speaking it at all, infact, its hard to get her to stay quiet!!
As for 2nd LG, i still speak english, and her sister speaks to her in the 2 and she understands!! DH still speaks mostly english and every now and then french!!
