file Unbearable to get little dressed or nappy changed

Very true Charlotte! I used to teach little ones and I could never understand the parents battling with their children at home when they were complete angels in my class!

I've even hidden away at changing at time at school to see what they do... and it is exactly nothing! He just lies there!!!

Marilu I aslo do the whole chasing around thing with my little one while trying to get him dressed, but it's the nappy issue that drives me nuts! LOL

I know what you are talking about the school thing as well as the different toys and things one gets to distract them and in the end it does not work. My little one is an angel as well at school, but at home, shoe!!

Oh I can so relate to this!!!!! Since my little one could walk (just after 10months) she REFUSED to lie still for me to change her nappy. It always ended up at me screaming at her, her crying hysterically and me holding her down with one hand while putting on her nappy with the other hand.

SO..we ended up TWO people changing her nappy. Daddy does the whole 'keeping her busy part' and I do the nappy changing (as quick as possible). I don't change her clothes while she's lying down, I only do the nappy while she's lying. I close her door and let her run around in her room and when I can catch her I dress her :) It sound like alot of hard work, but rather a happy baby running around and me crawling after her trying to get her arm into her shirt, than her and me both DREADING nappy changing time.

I also leave certain toys at the changing table which she ONLY gets when I change her nappy. Or I let her play with my cellphone (which she's never allowed to otherwise) for the 2minutes it takes me to change her nappy. We also play music/the radio while we change her nappy. It took about a month or 2 but now nappy changing isn't dreadful anymore and daddy isn't needed anymore to keep her busy:)

Sorry for the long post!!

girl

this is part of being a parent. you have to distract them and hold them down if you have to. Lorelai is now 8 months and walking so mine started early. i give her a sock to suck on while doing the nappy and then she gets up and starts to move away and i have to follow and dress on the move. i found that packing out everything before hand helps a lot. even take out 2 or 3 wetwipes from the back, open the cream, powder, etc you get were im going with this. i usually put on her nappy and then her pants and socks , then i let het sit up and and do the rest.

i think they dont like the up and down of it all (it might be a bit confusing "mommy wants me to lie down but why is she pulling me up?") so do everything that they need to be on the back for first and then the rest.

the best advise that is can give is, make peace with he fact that it will drive you crazy and it will be a mission, it goes much easier then.

Hope this helps.

I can so relate to this Manda!
My LB is almost 10 months now and I have the exact battle every time it is nappy changing time and I need so much strength after his bath and I have to get him dried and dressed!
He will not lie down on his changing mat, floor, bed, kitchen counter, you name it, I have tried it! As soon as I put him on his back he flips over and starts crawling away! If I hold him down he screams blue murder! I have tried all sorts... toys to distract, older son to distract. I've even tried getting him dressed while on the 'run'. The clothes eventually get on but it is really challenging to try and get a nappy on either one handed or while he is crawling or bouncing! He will just not keep still! He is a VERY active little chap, very happy and generally a real easy baby except for him lying on his back!
I would love some suggestions too.
And the weirdest thing is the teachers at his creche think I'm talking poo because he never does it there!

Hi There

I need advise, maybe some one has gone throught the same and got a way to handle it, because I was calm about the matter, but last night I felt I could pull out my hair. Let me also say, this has gone on for months now and he is 13 months old.

Every time when I change his nappy, he would flip him around or stand up and start walking and it is a total mission to get him to lay still for that moment. The same when I undress him and dress him. Sometimes ending in a cry session because mommie does not want me to walk or play. :woohoo:

Any advise can do, because I got such a fright for my self last night when I started swearing words in the air that I usually hate.
