Charlaine it's a good question but if you drink enough fluids during the day then you shouldn't need fluids at night either.

Waking up thirsty at night may be a sign of Diabetes.

Potty training will also be more difficult if she has night fluids as you can't expect her to sleep through without wetting the bed if she drinks past 8 at night.

Hi

I just wanna know something.

Sometimes every person gets thirsty during the night and would like a sip of water to refresh and then go back to sleep. The same thing can happen to a child. How can one refuse that if we as adults know how that feels.

so true. You need a good support so that when you try to fetch him your other half talks some sense into you. lol

Thanks ladies !

Just remember it is also VITAL to have hubby in your corner, you need to sit down and discuss a plan of action before you start this, cos it can be stressful and if one parent runs in and the other is hard core, you will be teaching LO to manipulate you against each other.

Claire A for president!!

A 2 year old can eat enough by 19h00 to sustain itself through the night. And "I'm hungry" is probably not "I am starving and will expire if I do not get food.." it is probably more likely to mean "I really would like some special one on one time with my mommy around now - I wonder if I should order Nesquick, tea or a slice of toast."

Kids learn what we teach them. Dinner time is dinner time, and what you do not eat now, will need to wait until breakfast which is at 7:30am - is often a good lesson to teach.

Sorry kitchen he is closed after 7pm is also a good one.

It is 7pm goodnight - unless you are bleeding from an artery I will see you at 7am, sleep well, mom loves you - is also a good lesson.

Shame man - a strong willed 2 year old is rough, but you have survived puberty, got through pregnancy, gave birth and survived the first 6 - 8 weeks, you can do anything at this point. So wear your big-girl-panties and show your LO why you get to be the boss of your house.

Good luck - first week is going to be hell, so set up your rules before hand, and stick to them, no matter how tempting it is to just run into the room and pick your LO up. Leave the door closed, lie in the passage and sob quietly if you have to - just leave your LO to figure it out, that it really is sleep time and mom is not coming.
