hi Ika

as part of my diagnosis Doc Lindeque sent me to have my tubes checked and any adhesions on the uterus before we even did anything.

This was done at the x-ray dept in Flora clinic and it cost R1000 ( i paid cash but was able to recover from medical aid)

procedure was painless but I had a bit of cramps from the dye.

Hope this helps !

No, (not that I know of), I think it depends on what the cycle procedure is for each. I was the pill, Lucrin, Fostimon, Menopur and the ovidrel trigger.

Chris, did you have intralipids? I see it's only BioArt and Vitalab that offers it to patients.

FS: Dr Siebert @ Aevitas Clinic

Oct10 - IVF#1 - BFN
Dec10 - IVF#2 - BFN
Apr11 - FET#1 - BFN

POA - IVF#3 - Jun11

Also, if you are able to produce enough eggs, they can freeze them for you if your first cycle doesn't work you can use the frozen embryo's (FET). Freezing embryo's is extra costs.

I went to BioArt, might be out of yur way but I really recommend them, the dr I saw prcatices in Benoni and Garen City too.

The procedures will differenciate between woman, mine was different to Ella Bella (a few meds etc). I did go for a laproscopy before doing IVF-ICSI, but even before then they said we would need it.

They will check DH and you first find out what will be the best route.

I paid about same price as Ella Bella (it was an Easter "EGG" special ;))

Ika I had mine done before I knew I had fertility issues or before I had started ttc. I had pain from undiagnosed endo which then led to surgery which led to them realising my time was just about finished and my ovaries were starting to fail.

They did it as part of a lap surgery and it was covered for medical aid.

I am not sure about the cost now. I know that they can do it in office, however it's best to do it under ga so that if they find something they can sort it out straight away.

What exactly have they done? I understand that they have diagnosed cm pcos and insulin res.

These are all related to hormonal issues. Sometimes the meds given like clomid can cause cm issues.

I also had cm issues, but was taking antihistamines and other meds. When I stopped them my cm improved. Again the iui is indicated for cm issues.

I just feel that if they are telling you to proceed with ivf then it is best to check that physically you are in good shape.

I understand that you need to make plans. This makes perfect sense, but my docs at aevitas took it one step at a time. We didn't discuss IVF (probably because I couldn't use my own eggs ) That is the only way to proceed with fertility treatment or it becomes too scary and exhausting.

Every couple has different treatment and the meds differ including dosage etc so you need to place all your faith in your fertility specialist and have a good consult and discuss the path that you will need to take and worst case senario when it comes to costs.

What I did was to say :

3 months home plan on meds
followed by 3 IUI
followed by ......

and take it one month at a time.

It is really tough and so emotional for a couple and often you stress about the future when you don't need to.

the month I decided what my poa was I fell pregnant.

Shout if you need help about anything.
