Benefits of Green Tea for Increasing Fertility

Green tea would be very beneficial to anyone wanting to conceive as it helps fertility levels greatly, in both men and women.
Are you or anyone you know trying to get pregnant? Well if the answer is yes, you might be pleasantly surprised to know that using green tea can help with getting a woman pregnant. The research that links green tea to increased fertility has been substantial, one of the major factors it has shown suggests polyphenols and hypoxanthine, which are the two main ingredients of green tea, can cause an increase in higher percentage of viable embryos. Polyhenols also act as antioxidants which can help get rid of unwanted toxins in the body. They can repair and mitigate the oxidative damage that occurs in most of our bodies from the environment, food, bodily stress and aging, which is great overall for the body, not just with fertility issues

Doubles your chances of conceiving
It is also possible to double the chances of conceiving by drinking half a cup or more of green tea. In addition, the maturing of eggs can also be increased, and the eggs may even become more fertile. These are all great ways in which women can become more fertile; however, the benefits just don’t stop at the women. Studies have shown that male fertility can be increased as problems such as having a low sperm count, or low sperm motility can be improved.

Helps an egg mature properly
Now, when it comes to fertility and green tea, it’s not just what it contains, but also what it does not contain, compared to some products you may be consuming, for instance those which contain caffeine. Since regular tea has more caffeine than green tea, it would be the most beneficial for you to consume green tea, as caffeine can have a lot of negative effects on the body when trying to conceive, it is in fact a fertility buster if taken in excessive amounts. There is indeed reliable proof to this, from valid sources, such as The National Infertility Association, which has shown a study that suggested caffeine has the possibility of preventing an egg from maturing properly, which can then lead to that egg not being fertilized, which can affect the chances of the women getting pregnant.

Prepares your body to make sufficient cervical mucus
Also, a lot of women do not get enough fluids and water each day therefore their bodies don’t produce enough cervical fluid known as cervical mucus that help sperm travel through the reproductive tract to the egg as well as keeps the sperm viable for up 5 days. This is where green tea can be beneficial as it helps hydrate the body so that it can be prepared to make sufficient cervical mucus that the female body needs to get pregnant more easily.

Decaf as an option
Now, you may be thinking, doesn’t green tea contain caffeine and even though it is at a low amount, won’t it still cause damage? Well if you are worried about this, there is also an option to buy decaffeinated, which is great. Green tea also comes in liquid and capsules form, which will give you the same benefits.

Moderation is always the key
Clearly there are many benefits that you or anyone can receive from taking green tea to increase fertility; however it is still important to be aware of the other side that in taking too much green tea may not be beneficial. It can have a slight decrease on the effects of folic acid, and this is a very important nutrient as it is vital in Fetal development. For vegetarians it is important to remember that green tea can have an effect on iron absorption. It can decrease the body’s absorption of iron from non-meat sources such as beans and tofu.

So overall, green tea would be very beneficial to anyone wanting to conceive as it helps fertility levels greatly. It’s best to take the supplements or drink the tea in between meals, but of course always check with your doctor beforehand, as you want to make an educated and well informed decision.

Thank you for the welcome and for sharing your thought Mrs Smith.

It will take a while to keep up with everyone but hopefully will get to know you as I go through this experience, I can see you are a well informed group.

To share a little history about me, I have a 5 year old, also planned natural first time around but was told her heart was suffering and needed to do an emergency c-section, wasn't even in labor for 5 hours, anyhow wasn't happy with my gynaecologist, so this time around, I'm hoping to have a VBAC and liking Genesis, I'm in search of a good midwife there, who is not expensive, I see Phindi's name come up often and wanting to change my gynaecologist to Dr Maassdorp also in Genesis, if you have used them before, please share your experience, would appreciate it.

have a great day

@Anzel - Thank hun! :) Oh wow, I hope your temp stays up!! Holding thumbs for you! I think I'm gonna start temping when my new cycle starts. Do you use a normal digital thermometer?

@ninies - Thanks doll! You chin up too okay! Our time will come!

@MTC - Thanks hun! Damn right, I'll be back on the Vitex wagon like the speed of lightning. I can kick myself for not continuing with Vitex, but I need to know how bad it actually is hey. Ooh you must be excited for the upcoming days right! Enjoy the BD! Hope you catch that eggy!! xx
Its very quiet and boring in our offices as well. I've heard Green Tea also helps for CM. Its not a fav drink but hell it worth the try.

@ Jay-Bee - I think dance one more time today, just to make sure! Really hope you get your bfp this cycle!! My longest was 35 days, I am praying for AF which is so weird! Thank hun! Hope AF arrives today.

@Jaybee - I had a temp dip on Sunday morning, and as from Monday, it started rising rapidly. Temp dip was to 36.0 degrees, and this morning it was 36.6. Quite a jump, I must say I've attached my chart so you can see. It was my first month charting, so I'm happy that it showed a definite dip and then a steady rise. As I know this means that I ovulated. Looking forward to the TWW with you. May you ovulate soon! :woohoo:

@MTC - I've attached my chart so you can see. Clear lines this time! :woohoo: Almost time for your ovulation!! Holding thumbs!!

@Ninies - I used a normal digital thermometer that I bought for R40 at Click. Every morning before I get out of bed, I put it under my tongue for ten seconds and then take the reading. This was my first month charting with temping, so it was quite fun. I've attached my chart so you can see.
I don't think you have to wait to up your dose, if you have the extra tabs. If you don't mind multiples, I would suggest you take both tabs per day, as per the pack. Take it in the evening - Less side effects then. It's up to you, hun! You can also call Gynae and just confirm that you are going up to higher dose, seeing that you have the extra tabs.

Jay-Bee... So good to see you happy and smiling with regards to EWCM, that's fantastic! I don't blame you as I have never experienced EWCM before either... ;)

Im drinking as much water as I possible can as that too helps with the CM throughout the month.

Very boring day in the office...

@ Ninies, my Gyna said that I will ovulate on CD14, CD15 or CD16. I didn't use OPK's as they say that Fertomid interferes with the OPK's and does not give correct readings, maybe that I why you couldn't read the Clicks ones?

:tmi: but I had EWCM (first time ever) and ovulation cramps today all gone so I mustve ovulated yesterday on CD14. I think that CD14 on the Tuesday will work for you yes, loads of baby dust to you

@ Babydream, try to stay positive, I know how it feels as I had a 34 day cycle my longest ever and it is so frustrating. I really hope that AF comes today so that you can get the tests done and get the ball rolling, holding thumbs.

@ Anzel, I entered all my charting data on Fertility Friend but I have not had any temp spikes for this cycle yet. Will have to wait and see
I guess you are 2-3 days ahead of me so we will be in our tww together, yay, we can rant and rave together
