Aisharsl, yes you should definitely insist on a follicle scan. It happened to me where I took clomid from CD3-CD7 (my cycles lenght vary about every month from 30 days to 31 days etc). So when we did IUI and I went for my CD12 scan to check follicle size, my follicle was only 12mm - which is too small to administer ovidrel. Your follicle has to be at least 16mm. It's true that the ovidrel does make you ovulate 36 hours after it's been given, but if your follicle was not big enough it wouldn't have worked. In other words your eggie wouldn't have been mature enough and if your cycles are in the 30 days then CD12 is waaay too early to do ovidrel.
Remember with Ovidrel as well your CD21 may not be accurate due to the Ovidrel shot (also contains progesterone).

Hayley - FX for this cycle for you I hope you get your BFP, the ovidrel I can remember comes in 2 viles, you mix all the liquid to the power, shake, then suck it all up into the syringe then inject. Although I could be wrong, but I think that's how I remember it. I did my own shot as I was already doing all the shots for the 14 days up till then, it burns though, just a word of warning. Everytime it burned, so clentch the teeth!

Ika - sorry about your doggie, it is like loosing a family member :( your new puppy sounds cute though, Xena!! Sweet.

aisharsl - welcome to the group, I hope you get your BFP soon! until then I hope you enjoy your time here in the group.

klk - shame for your girly bits lol - FX for your BFP soon too, you certainly put in a hugh amount of work this time!!

Lalie - I am so glad your appointment went well and now after the new blood tests you should get some answers and a POA then your BFP very soon

AFM - CD20 and even FF isn't too sure if I O'd or not yet, all I got was a striped line :( as my CM wasn't indicating I O'd, even then the day I got O pains (CD14) isn't matching the estimation on FF which says CD16 - oh man I can't wait till Wednesday when i get to chat to the FS and get some answers.

1 awesome monkey born March 2009 - MC in May 2010 - PCOS and endo - finally got my BFP on 14/04/2011

thanks laliek.
you are making alot of sense to me. no my doc doesnt do any follicle scans. just did an internal scan on cd 4 and gave me a script for clomid and ovidrel. took the ovidrel on cd 12 already. they say the ovidel works in about 36hours, so im confused how to calculate my o days. but if i dont get a bfp this month i will def ask about the follicale scan and i will buy ovulation kits. well at least il do the cd21 test to see if ovulation happened.

maybe you should ask about it. i do know that my gynae first did and internal scan to check my eggs, said that they were slow.lol. but the reason that they check is because they dont want your eggs to get over stimulated. but there is no harm in asking how, where. what and why to your doc.

Aisharsl - welcome!

About your question - does your doctor do any scans? As your follicle needs to be a certain size before you administer the ovidrel. It isn't advisable (even this new specialist I went to explained to me), you have to work with a woman's normal cycle. So if your average cycle length is 36 days, you have to establish your lutheal phase first, which is period between when you ovulate and your next period. This can be anything from 10-14 days for normal funtioning system. So if your lutheal phase is 14 days and you ovulate CD17, your cycle length will be 31 days. It's more complicated than just taking clomid and administering the ovidrel shot. Clomid doesn't make you ovulate - just remember that - it stimulates your ovaries so you have more follicles but it doesn't make you ovulate. I hope that makes sense to you?

I LOVE doctors like that too! A good doctor is someone that can sit for an hour with you and answer all questions that you may have and not try rush you out for their next patient. My gynae is like that, she can sit for hours with you!
