I have one which I will use for feeding but other than that I have used it once when James was fussing to be upright and I was preparing food for a dinner party. They put babies pelvis into a very posterior tilt which isn't great and for a normal child don't benefit them. That said I do use them with the tray for low tone children in my practice. For short times I think they are okay:)

Oh my word, Des, that could've gone wrong hectically, hey?

Hm, all your comments make me fell rather sceptical about getting one. I also have my doubts that Lilly will like it cause already now she hates being stationary.

Bronz, thanks for the offer, still not sure if I'm gonna make it to the meet but will let you know.

Julz, R 2000 if you ask me lol

Thanks for all your replies xx

I have the Bumbo, but only use it to feed Connor in and only for short periods at a time. Connor is 6 months now and already he gets "stuck" in the bumbo - when i take him out, I have to hold on to the bumbo to "pull" him out, he he - BUT, and if I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it, I had Connor in the bumbo, on the bed and I was feeding him his cereal - and he basically leaned far over to reach for a toy and the bumbo toppled over, luckily it was on the bed and he thought he was very funny!

My beautiful baby boy, Connor Troy, was born on 20 March 2010 and my 2nd gorgeous boy, Cullen Reece, was born on 2 September 2011 - I am very blessed indeed

HI Yaz

Just my 2c worth or was it R20 now?

I am not a fan of them and was advised by both the baby gym instructor and the sister not to use it.

If you do make sure it is for a very short time for feeding etc but babies need to be on their tummies to gain strength.

I have read that many moms have to stop using them for safety reasons as the kids fall over in them. Not sure of this though.

I'm also not a fan of the tray - difficult to clip on, but I've seen some mommies use it for feeding times. I'll try it out again once we get there.

When you get a bumbo, make sure you get the tray as well. i use it as a feeding chair every day. mine i used for my first child and kept it for my second.

both my children used the bumbo seat! I won't say it helped them to sit faster but it is a handy tool.
just don't put them up high on a counter or table if you are going to turn your back on them. some babies are able to weezle themselves out of the seat :)

I started using it at about 4 months I think and used it till they got mobile. my children are also small but had no problem sitting in it.

one gets a tray that you attach in front of the seat but imo it is a waste of money.
