My paed, who is very old fashioned and even prescribes some natural rememdies and promotes homoepathic long term things, keeps telling me that IRON plays a bit part in poor sleeping and irratibility issues.

He recommends a balanced diet and iron supplement - not just the added iron in some of the multivitamins - his belief is you are wasting your money. Rather take a good proper iron supplement. His recommendations are one month on and one month off, so that the LO's body doesn't rely on the iron supplement.

We had the same issues from 5 months old, but unfortunately I only started seeing the Dr at about 10 months, when the sleeping habits was becoming a real nightmare!

We use FERRIMED. Only 1ml, and the Dr said even 0,5ml will help. And it doesn't make my LG constipated - it actually helps her! But please, discuss it with your paed first, I dont want to recommend buying any medications!

I thought it was also teething, I tried Calpol, Nurofen, even Allergex some nights - I think their little bodies just become immune and eventually the medicine isn't even absorbed. I feel the meds all knocked her out, but then when she woke later, it was a worse nightmare!

We went through a bad sleeping patch a few weeks ago, and when I saw the paed for a regular check up, he said IRON. I had forgotten we were on a month off, and I had forgotten to go back onto it! Its a week now that we are back on iron, and going good again!

My LO was BF until 11 months and I was 3 months pregnant - my iron levels are naturally low too and after one pregnancy, bf, and falling pregnant again, it was natural that both her and I could be low on iron.

Glad it's going better guys! yay

BTW - Lia just turned 7 months and she only ever slept through twice lol. I must say though.. as long as she isn't up hourly or wanting to play when she's up it's ok. It's the staying up contantly that I find seriously exhausting.

Big Improvement:) Not his normal, but managable - woke at 3:15 and then went down till 6:15! Now he just needs to drop the 3 o clock one and we'll be back to a happy mommy again!

1st timer, it sounds like you are following the same pattern as me, so hopefully tonight will be better:)
