Hi Ladies

Shame Punkies are you finding it a little easier as time goes by.

I am hoping to only go back to work for a few months and then looking at starting something from home. I feel at least that way I can handle it as there is light at the end of the tunnel

Jems thanks for all the useful advice, I was already planning on getting seconds of things, ie dummies, sterilizer etc and leaving them at my moms, that way I only have to pack a change of clothes for her and milk, sure it will make life easier. My mom has said she will come to me some days, so this should make life easier, but I also dont want to put her out too much, I guess we will see how it all works out

I love the idea about he booking and keeping track of her feeds, as this is something I am worried about as she is not so keen on the bottle

Have nay of you moms battled getting your LO's off the boob and onto a bottle ? Paige was taking a bottle nicely about a month ago and then decided she hates it and will only take boob. I have left her with my mom a few mornings and she takes a bit of bottle, I am sure it will get better, I guess if they hungry they will eat.

Have a great week ...

If you are going to be dropping her off at your mom's - try pack things for the whole week so that makes it easier in the mornings, knowing you just need to bundle her up and get your milk. Leave nappies, toys etc there.

Maybe try get your mom to come to your house - no moving baby around in winter.

I get hubby to pack the car for me before he goes otherwise I have to load kids in car and all their and my stuff - which is like 8 bags in the end sometimes - ridiculous!

Print out a feeding schedule/menu for your mom so she knows. Get a little notebook so she can write how much milk is being drunk so you know how much to express - I also expressed at work and it is really not that bad.

Make sure you sterilize all the stuff at night as it is quite a pain to do in the mornings. I always packed quickly in the mornings. Never took me long. I get up at 5:30 am and try get myself done before they wake up, feed Troy, then he plays while I try feed Jade some brekkie and get her dressed for school.

My MIL comes to my house to look after Troy 4 days a week and then if my mom is looking after the kids I drop her as she lives down the road from Jade's school. So drop Troy off and then Jade.

Hi Mommies,

Going back to work is not the easiest of things when you have to leave your baby behind. My son will be 5 months in a couple of days. I came back to work on 03 Jan, I also cried the whole day the day before I went back to work cos I also couldn't imagine myself not seeing my child for the whole day.

He's got a full-time nanny who stays with us. As soon as he's up in the morning, sometimes I get to play with him and then she takes him to feed him his cereal and begin the day. By the time I get back from work(@6pm) it's time for his supper, bath and then off to bed, I always try to spend time with him before he goes to sleep . I'm still breastfeeding and only do so when I come back from work and during the night, he takes his bottle during the day.

I also miss him crazily when I'm at work at times and look at his photos in my phone as well all the time. I try not to call often during the day, I get scared at times that I might call and hear him in the background crying or something but it's never happened. His nanny takes very good care of him and they get along well :)

Hi Ladies

thanks for all the advice on teh routines you follow, I guess we will fall into a routine soon enough.

My LG isnt sleeping through the night yet, so I just hope she starts to sleep through soon, otherwise I will be exhausted and still have to go to work.

Glad all your little ones love thier caregivers, I think this makes it easier.

When ever we see my mom my little girl burst with excitement and hige smiles, so I know she will be happy with her. I think its more me than her that is going ot struggle

Hi WC

I'm glad Junior is loving his nanny.

I have a full time nanny, what i did, she arrived a month b4 i gave birth i was so big i couldn't do a thing hence the early arrival.

After i gave birth, i did everything for the baby myself, she would sit and watch how i bath, clothe, feed etc the baby.

On the last month of my ML, i told her that she'll have to strart bathing and feeding the baby, and she did it exceptionally well, i then started to leave her with the baby half a day.

by the time i returned to work i was not stressed at all, she still lover her nanny.

all the best WC.

Hi mommies,

I started work on the 19th of Jan,i cried the whole afternoon the day before i got back to work, thinking how on earth am i gonner cope, and lucky enough on the 18th of Jan on great expectations the topic was "mommies going back to work and how to cope"even recorded the show,my baby boy is five months and on formular,i even brought a stress ball to work, and wen i feel anxious,i just squeeze it and breath, seems to be working.

I have a nanny, who comes in the morning and leaves in the afternoon,we wake up at 06am when bd goes to work,he palys with mj for a while, while i try to tidy up a bit, then i give him a barth, and his bottle, then he goes back to sleep,i prepare myself, make his bottles for the whole day(dont want the nanny to)wen the nanny arrives at around 07:30,she preapares his cereal,so that wen he wakes up it's all ready,i leave as soon as the nanny arrives,i try not to call so many times during the day, only call once or twice,it's hard,i felt that looking at his pics on my phone during the day, made me sad, felt like a bad mother,so i dont do that anymore, and dont have his pic on my desk, yet,bt will soon.

Mj loves his nanny, wen she leaves,he wants to jump at her,it made me sad the first day,bt then i guess it means she is treating him well :) her first priority is mj,and he is the sweetest,he spends most of his time sleeping, wakes up,eats, plays a bit and doses off again,i just had to belv that he is in good hands, have faith and relax, one day at a time ;)

Hi Niki

I just got back to work on Jan 12. My little gal (Phumi) is 4 months. I leave her with a day mother. I stopped breastfeeding when she was 2 months, i didn`t have enough milk. So she is on formula.

Now leaving her on the 1st day was the saddest. But she made it easy for me cause she didn`t cry 4 me & behaved the whole day. I think she adores her day mother cause when she sees her, she just smiles :) So now we are all used to the idea, but i still miss her so much ;)

My routine is like this:
Night before i pack her bag.
When i fetch her, she is bathed & already had supper, so i just give her her last bottle, then she goes to sleep. Then i get on with my chores.
The next morning i wake up @04.30am & i prepare myself 1st, then wake her up & change the nappy. Then i drop her off @05.30. Mind you i use public transport. I take a bus @6.00am & im @work @07.00.

This routine works well for me + my baby is an angel. She never ever wakes up during the night for anything, so she sleeps all through the night :P
