Mommies returning to Work

Hi everyone

I went back to work on 1 March and leave Jordyn with my future mom-in-law (we happen to stay on the same property which is really handy). I dreaded the thought for over a month before. My thing that made me really sad was that I feared I would miss out on EVERYTHING! seems silly but that was the worst for me. Jordyn has been an angel and being back at work hasnt been too hard. It is tiring getting everything done in a day, as there is so much you have to do. I also prepare the night before so bottles are all done and packed. I leave all the nappies, toys, toiletries etc with her so I just take the bottles, formula and diary(so she can record happenings so when I fetch him I can see when his next feed is etc and whether he did poo etc) in the mornings.

Would give anything to stay with him everyday but some of us just have to work

Yes definitely. It would definitely make new mommies more productive. Seems many companies are going that route in Europe now. So it may eventually cotton on in South Africa too. Hope everyone is dealing well with being back at work.

I've often said companies should have an on-site creche. I'd love to run one

first day back went ok, Paige just loved spending the day with my mom and took her bottle which was great, she is fast asleep now from a busy day.

it does make it easier if you know they are in good hands.

Yaz, sorry to ehar Lily is still sick, I hope she comes right soon, I am just so glad paige has taken the bottle,s till didnt drink as much as she could have, but took two bottles today and had plenty of wet nappies so sure we will work up to more every day. I managed to express twice at work today and got quite a bit of milk, and was stressed so sure it will get better. I hope you feel better when the new nanny starts, I can only imagine how horribel ti is to elave your little one with someone you not really happy with

Lina, thats great, wish I could give paige cuddles throughout the day, but no such luxuries, at least my mom is close to work , so some days I can pop in during lunch,

Hi All,

I returned back to work on the 7th of February. But THANKFULLY my son is able to come to work with me, as we have a little creche only for staff babies. I'm in a tiny little company. 14 people all in all, and my son Riley is the only baby in the creche at the moment. No preggies in the office at the mo, and 2 other ladies with LO's, but both only work half day. I know I'm incredibly lucky, I honestly think that all employers should look at having a creche. It makes life so much easier for moms, and I think all in all you are more productive knowing that your baby is a few steps away from you should you be needed.

Riley was born on the 1st of December. Right on his due date. I had a fairly easy pregnancy and birth. Suffered a little in the beginning with winds, and burping him. But it has gotten much better the last few weeks. He loves the Nanny at work and already cracks a huge smile in the mornings when he sees her. And he gets cuddles and loves from all the ladies at work... What more could a little guy ask for.

Hey Niki, shame, good luck for your first day back at work tomo! Is Paige ok with the bottle again? How is the expressing going? Yes, I very sadly had to stop, it was the only way to get Lilly to take the bottle. She got very sick three weeks ago at creche and is still not 100% again. Not happy with her daycare at all so we decided to employ a nanny who will start next week. Hard on our budget but Lilly's well being is priority no 1! All the best for tomorrow x
