Hi all. I am a newbie to this site and forum, although have been reading a lot of your posts and questions... I need to find either a nanny or a baby care creche for my new addition... He will be born this March and I will need to go back to work in August, when he will only be 5 months old!!!
What should I do or where should I look for help? How is Opti baby? They the only place I've seen in my area (Fourways), that take babies from 3 months.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thx

Hi there, you could also look at Little Saints Preschool in Fourways, just behind Fourways Gardens Residential Estate. A stunning school in a peaceful setting and very profesionally run and their school fees are very reasonable. You can contact them on (011) 465-5269 and speak to Helen. Hope this helps.

great, so glad you are happy! I almost enrolled Cam at shining stars, the ONLY thing i didnt like is something you mentioned you wanted!! which is that I didnt want cameron to be put with the older kids in the afternoons !! Lovely principal and VERY loving enviroment. The kids also have reward charts and it was so cute, then they get 10 stars they are invited to have tea with the principal in her office :) I suppose when i have two kids, it might be nice for the kids to be together sometimes!!

Just so you know, my cousin whos kids are now 8 and 10 had her boys at shining stars for years and was extremely happy there!

Little Jenna Lucy Biart born by C SEC on 21 Dec at 8.05 weighing 3.18 kilos and 50cm long - my healthy happy girl finally in my arms.

I meant to say that Lonehill Village I didn't see as they're full - but it's already a good sign that they aren't accepting over their numbers which some schools do. I didn't look at Magic Beings either because the principal didn't return my call and registration is R2,000 per child!!!

Thanks Sher - they gave me all the booklets etc :-). I went to go look at two more schools just to set my mind at ease so I've seen all the schools in Fourways by now I'm sure lol.

I actually think I've found the right school... yay!

It is Shining Stars close to Waterford Estate (off Witkoppen). It's a bit further away but really seems like what we were looking for.

(Thanks Mandy for mentioning it!!)

Went to go look and currently they have 10 kids per class (it is a smaller creche which I sort of wanted) - with a teacher and an assistant for each class which is great. That's the one thing with the "bigger" schools - I worry that my kids will get a bit lost in the system as they are use to loads of one on one attention. It isn't a huge school - but it seems safe, the classrooms are bright and cheerful, I love their discipline policies and lots of their teaching philosophies (you should see some of the dodgy discipline methods etc that we came across especially at some of the "Smaller" schools - so I was very pleased to read about this schools discipline methods and way they teach). The place is very clean, the are well organized (proper admin office etc) and it feels like a warm and caring environment.

The teacher we met was also really lovely. So kind and natural with the kids which is very important.

The play area isn't HUGE - but there is also a second play area and a nice big sand pit and nice indoor space for the young kiddies. I think they have enough space to have fun whilst having constant supervision. They also have access to the park inside Waterford Estate where they go on outings some Fridays (safe estate, nice parks).

They only take from 14 months old usually - or walking babies but said they will be happy to take my girl (she will be 13 months when she goes, and has been taking some steps on her own so she might even be walking then - or won't be far off). The creche currently only has 6/7 babies so I'll be glad that she will have lots of personal attention too.

OH - and the fees will work me out to R4550 for both my kiddies per month (until 2pm) which is very reasonable for this area - includes snack and lunch etc. Then R600 reg fee and yearly R200 stationery which is cheaper than some around here.

I think from the ones that I've seen the top Nursery Schools (according to my needs - bright and happy, caring environment, nice teaching and discipline principles, good meals and a place I feel I can be happy that my child will be cared for whilst learning but also and have fun), my top schools out of all of those I looked at would be:
(Junior College Gardens, Shining Stars, Buttercup & Lonehill Nursery School would probably be number 4 on my list).

What a mission though... seriously.

Thanks again for all your help.

Pleasure !

I think go for it - if you can put them in from 7am -15:30 - regarded as half day - the fees are R2860 ...plus boom gates annual etc...

its not bad. if you want, i got all the details on mail, booklet, reg forms. Cause I was gonna put Kiara in there but my husband wanted us to have a nanny
