Now Im feeling like the guilty one, not because I let Jaydon do everything by himself but because I do it for him.

I have only recently started allowing him to bath himself and dress himself. He also brushes his own teeth.

The only reason I think im still doing it is because his daddy still sees him as our little baby and he would never allow him to make coffee on his own or pack his own lunches.

Joli, from how old did you allow Kayla to make coffee and pack her own lunches? What lunch does she pack? I think its pretty awesome that you are allowing her to do it. :)

joli

i have a daughter who will be 7 years in 4/half month .i still bath her ,pack her bag and sometimes feed her breakfast because she is slow and she might run late for school.i dont allow her to make herself coffee or go around the stove or kettle, but lately i have allow her to make herself sandwich and smear butter or peanuts butter on her bread.

as long as your daugher is responsible and she can bath herself .

i have a friend who has a son of 10 years and a daugher of 7 i was surprise when she told me they prepare themself to school.

I feel now that I'm doing more bad than good! What if she's grows up thinking I don't love her :(

Maybe I should start doing a bit more for her??

LOL at the 21 & 23 year olds!! Oh my word. I don't think I will have the energy for that - ever!

i think that kids should also learn responcibilty, i am worried with chloe she starts pre primary next year (she will be 5in november) and i am starting to get her to bath herself and help make her lunch etc.

but saying that, my hubby cousin who is 21, his MOM still makes his lunch etc for work and the one lady i work with is 23 and her mom makes her lunch and when she does fruit salad, her mom even peels and seeds her litchies!!!!

I think its great that kids learn responcibilty as well as indapendance, good on u for teach her that. i will sure do the same

Girls please help me out.

I feel like a terrible mother after I've just found out that my friend is still bathing her 6 year old son, packing his school bags, make sure he remembers everything for school, won't let him make coffee etc. etc.

She was shocked when she found out that Kayla must get ready for school herself (I leave at 06h20 in the morning and only does her hair), pack her own bag, must remember when to pack netball / ballet clothes etc. (which she does), bath herself, make her own coffee.

Should someone still be doing all these things for a 6 year old????
