Deja, wow, compared to the struggles you have with you little boy and sleeping, I don't even know why I am complaining. My girl was the same as yours and I think perhaps that's why I am having such a hard time with my boy not sleeping! I also have to change his clothes as he gets so wet, no nappy can hold it all!

My pead said its very normal for little boys to drink often, and I must let him because he obviously needs it. She did give me a very good tip that has definitely been helping, and that is putting a teaspoon of rice cereal in his night time bottle before he goes down. She also advised not to change him at night unless me made a nr2, but that's not always possible for me. As long as I change him before I feed him he goes back down easily, only problem is then he screams and wakes the whole house up!

Zee, I recon 9pm to 4am constitutes sleeping through. You are getting a good 6-7 hrs sleep and that's brilliant! I envy you! Specially that she goes right back down after the 4am drink. At 15 weeks, my boy was waking up every 30 to 45 minutes after his 2/3am feed! It used to drive me nuts!

Marijke you've got two girls and they're so different with their sleeping. Again, that just tells me that its got so much to do with each babies different personality and needs.

Hi Widget

If sleeping through means sleep from 21H00 until 04H00 in the morning then my little girl is sleeping through. She only wakes up for her bottle around 4, drinks and goes right back to sleep. she's 15 weeks, bornat 38.5 weeks, no complications.

I'm hoping that she'll be able to sleep until 06H00 soon :)

Hi Widget

My LG (4) slept through very soon. She was a breastfed baby - till 14 months - and would not even wake properly to drink and would sleep immediately. I always said I never rested so much as I did after she was born. It was lovely! She is still an amazing sleeper. I never knew when she teethed, just saw the teeth were there.

THEN enter my son (1 and a half). Drank every one and a half to two hours. Breastfed till 14 months. Up until about March this year he woke every two hours at night, every single night. Then, he started a new thing. He'd wake once but STAY UP AND AWAKE for two to three hours at a time.

Then two weeks ago was horrific. He didn't sleep and slept during the day. I have to say we moved, so he was a bit unsettled. A week ago things started to look up. He now wakes once, drinks his bottle and then sleeps on. However, I almost always have to change all his clothing, because he soaks himself and he drinks like a little monster during the night and before bedtime. Yeah, yeah. I know. Not good but it makes him sleep and that's all that matters to me!

My oldest girl started sleeping through at 2.5 years, before then I could count on my one hand the amount of nights she slept through (once was when she was a week old, I was super excited...and then it never happened again) There was another hiccup when she went off her night nappy. No health issues, full term, bottle fed, blw.

My second girl started sleeping through one week shy of turning 3 months. She had a cold a week ago and only slept through every second evening and now this week she is teething and it's been about 4 or 5 nights now where she wakes up 2 - 6 times. She's 8 months now, no health issues, full term, breastfed, blw.

Thanks for the posts!

MummyAbby I understand,I feel the same way about when people ask me how my kids eat! Wow! Sounds like your littlies are good sleepers, specially from so early. Boy and girl!

It's amazing how different all babies are when it comes to these things...Huggles my pead said her boy wouldn't sleep through until he was 3! I stared at her in disbelief because I thought that would be my lot. My boy at that stage - 3 months - was waking up 8 to 10 times a night! I thought I was going to lose my mind! It progressively got better and the last three nights he only woke up twice and went straight back down after having bottle.

Huggles I get that sometimes you do whatever you need to do for the family to get some sleep!

My son was born at 36 weeks.
He slept through for 3 weeks when he was 5 months old, and another 3 weeks at about 17 months. Other than that he doesn't sleep through the night. Occasionally I get the odd night here and there but they are few and far between.

Between 6-12 months he had a lot of upper respiratory tract infections and we discovered he had bad glue ear so got grommets. Sleep did improve after the grommets but he still woke at least once every night often twice. Mostly just drank milk (formula) then went back to sleep. Before the gromets it was hard to get him down again, after the grommets he resettled quickly and easily after milk.

From 18-20 months (where we are now) sleep has been pretty bad with multiple wakings. He now frequently joins us in our bed during the night (sleep got so bad at 18 months we moved his bed into our room, squashed between the wall and my bed). He goes to sleep in his bed and climbs over into ours when he wakes.

It's entirely normal for babies and toddlers to wake a few times at night.

I hate being asked about sleeping by friends and family!

Anyways,

My daughter slept through from 6 weeks. Only lasted till 4 months and then again she slept through on off from 1 year old. She is sleeping through now again since a few weeks ago. No complications other than ezcema.

My son started sleeping through sometime after 6 weeks. No complications or problems this far. He is 2 months now, so it has only been for maybe 2 weeks now.

I should probably add that even though both my kids sleep well at night, they are terrible daytime sleepers.
