I hope so. But I think I'll be in for quite a shock. as temporary fostering and occasional babysitting may teach you how to feed a baby, change a nappy, understand that babies feed at all hours of the night/morning...but the difference is, I could always give them back!!

Meags I really do believe you mean well and you have an awesome heart. I guess the heading to that thread inplies that there is negligence.

I dont actually post to put the mom/dad down or to make it sound like they are bad parents.

I am genuinely interested in other's opinions. hubby and i disagree on SO many things (eg baby sleeping in the same room as parents for the first few weeks) so I also like to know other mom's opinions and views on everything so when hubby and I argue I can say "well all the other mom's on moomie do it that way"
you guys are my back up!!

and even as a babysitter/midiwfe/whatever, I have also made mistakes. nothing major, but small ones that I hope to learn from.

I also made comments about moms before having Dylan so I am guilty as charged too.

I guess you really have no idea what it is like being a mom until you become one and there are so many things that can complicate the process like infertility etc. Yes some moms have few hassles and they also won't understand how the rest of us feel.

I really understant how impossible it is to believe that a mom would shun her own child or hurt her own child. I did things that I am really not proud of, but I am sure other mom's would understand.

Guys I hope its not me and if it is please tell me. I know I can be harsh sometimes but I always feel the truth is always best even though it is sometimes not pleasant to hear.

well you never know!! I do comment on other people's parenting style when I know that having kids of your own is different to just babysitting for a few hours
