file Taking baby to other peoples houses

I take my LG of 6 months every where I can. I get to see so little of her that it breaks my heart to leave her with someone when I know I could be spending time with her. But I also realise that it is important to go out and mingle (for the sanity sake of things....)

Took my little girl to a pub to watch the Super 14 final. Sat outside where there wasn't asmuch smoke and dressed her like an eskimo

At one point I went to the loo and when I got back, LG was crying like crazy. She was over stimulated and tired and though I had left her. Took about 15 minutes to calm her (took her to a quite place - sort of) and then we carried on for the night. Also had her pram where she slept till we were ready to leave at about 11.

At first I was also extremely nervous to take her anywhere - still is. I am not a natural mother and I do feel that people judge me, but I also realised that I want to be with my LG more than I care about what people think about my mothering skills.

ZodwaM well done for phoning in advance - I was to nervous in the begining even to do that... I think I broke into a cold sweat every time we went somewhere and prayed that lo would sleep the whole time and not have a dirty nappy. My prayers were answered in the early days but not any more but now I am so much more relaxed and ask where I can change nappies as soon as I walk in the door

We tend to make out outings during the day, so that the boys can come with us. Liam is quite happy to take a nap wherever he is as long as we have his cot.
I try to avoid going out in the evenings, not cos the boys are a nuisence, but I like them to sleep in their own beds. And I don't really like taking them from a warm bed to the cold car and then from the car into the cold to get back into bed at home.

However we have no problems with them when we sleep over anywhere, as we often go away for a weekend, or sleep over at a friend's house if the beers have been flowing.

My MIL FREAKS out. She didn't touch our LG for about 6 - 7 months and is still cautious. Drives me up the pole!

I think parents get more upset about baby screaming than other people (unless you are in cramped quarters like an aeroplane). James needs to fit in with my life, so he gets lugged everyewhere with me. I just take his oram which lays flat and he sleeps in that, noise doesnt bother him though so it makes things easier!
If I'm out at his usual bath time I just do a quick top and tail wash with a face cloth. Babies are easy though - they dont really get too dirty during the day!
