Nebulizer

Obviously some causes like allergies should be addressed, but for colds and bronchiolitis (which are not easliy prevented until baby's immune system is stronger) this is probably the most effective and safest treatment to clear lungs and prevent further infection.

I must just add that in winter I spray Dylans nose with saline daily.



A virus can't be treated with antibiotics. The nebuliser with physio kept dylan out of hospital at 5 months. That and breastfeeding doc said.

Doc told me that because babies lungs are so immature and underdeveloped they do tend to get infected/coughs so much easier and instead of antibiotics all the time nebulizing definitely helps....?

Would I be correct in assuming a nebuliser is treating the symptoms but does nothing to resolve the root of the problem?

Just trying to see what the value is other than giving baby temporary relief ... or does it assist in the healing process as wel?

I bought one at the pharmacy for about R450 and I must say it is really worth it. As Julz said you can use just saline and it helps them to bring up all the phlegm etc. Considering it is just the start of winter I would say go and get one!

Elaine moms really like the nebuliser and you can just use saline in it which would work really well. x

Ashlee keeps getting colds (from being in daycare) and then she is so blocked up, she can't feed or sleep, always coughing etc..

Is it worth it getting a nebulizer? All the information on the internet, refers to using a nebulizer to administer medication. I just want something to clear her nose and chest.
