@ Widget: Hi there! *waves back*
My midwife is Xoli Makhabane.
Saw Dr Maasdorp on Monday so he could take out my Shirodkar suture. It was uncomfortable but not too painful. It felt like I was having intense period pains for about 1 minute while he was taking it out. My guess is that, that is somewhat what labour will feel like. just much more intense.
I am really beginning to like him though, I must say. I do find him quite expensive at between R700 - R1000 a pop depending on how many weeks you are, but he is very thorough. He explains everything really really well and takes his time with you. You never feel rushed! YOU eventually start worrying about taking up so much time
But that's hopefully it for me. As he said, If I do see him in the delivery room, that's probably NOT a good sign as he'll only come if he needs to do a caesar

Otherwise, I will see him again at 6 weeks for a check-up and to get back on a contraceptive.
Speaking of which, what is your gal's opinion? I think I want to have my 3rd and last baby in 2014 but fall pregnant towards end of next year (2013). Is it worth it to then put in a mirena or copper IUI? Or should I just try the pill/ patch?
Other than that, it's all systems go for the VBAC. Baby is head down. Weighing just over 3kg's at 37weeks. Her head is engaged and facing the right position etc. The placenta is out of the way and hasn't attached itself to my c-sec scar. Forgot all the other would-be red flags, but thankfully, I don't have any of them at the moment. There's still enough water around her and she's still getting sufficient nutrients etc from the umbilical cord.
@Joybaby: Best of luck! I know all about the "odds" looking like they are stacked againts you. My baby was still breech at 30 weeks and doctor wasn't hopeful, but she turned and is now in perfect position. I was all like "She'll turn! Just you wait and see!I KNOW she will turn!TRUST me!

"
At least you baby is head down. Waaaay better than being breech! Now, just to get that head to engage. Have you been walking? maybe gravity can help to lower the head into the pelvis? I reaally reeeally wish you a successful vbac. (and myself too!

)
Sorry for mammoth post
